The Touchpad Android thread

im waiting for ics, only bought TP as it was cheap so i will wait for proper tablet release, webos is nice but not enough apps.

I have to say this port was very simple an up and running in 15 minutes.

I thought if you logged in with your existing account it brought the same apps across as have android on the HTC desire but it doesn't

You need to download a task killer from the market. CM7 and the bundled ADW launcher do not have one built in :(

Was hoping that wasn't going to be the answer as was reading this week somewhere that it actually slows things down.:(

In this respect WEBOS is so much better.

huh? advanced task killer will speed things up by killing tasks.

WebOS will always be faster and better because this is an alpha release, it has many bugs in it, making it slower.

when they make an official stable release expect the tide to turn.

Nothing interesting really.

How did you make the menu appear along the top?

It won't as the update will wipe moboot.

I wiped my touchpad clean, put on a fresh 3.0.4 using webos doctor then loaded cm7 after. Both work like a charm and it took 15 minutes. (excusing the bugs in both OS')

I havn't copied or installed anything to it yet though mate, the Touchpad went off and installed the official update on it's own!?!!

I have preware and modded kernel etc but nothing to do with the android yet.

Yes it will work fine. But as said above if you install a webos update after installing Android it will delete the boot menu and you'll have to reinstall android, you don't lose any settings or apps though which is good.

Mine auto updated to 3.0.4 without me realising and it doesn't seem to have affected Android at all? Still get the boot menu and can reboot into WebOS.

@ All, decided to download Firefiox and Opera but for both no keyboard pops up when you want to reply in a forum, is there any setting that needs to be updated? Is it working for other users?

Been using Android exclusively for a week now. Very impressed. Internet connection just seems to stop working sometimes though, but wifi connection to router is solid.

Bought Co-pilot GPS software, for using with my external Bluetooth GPS unit, and it works well, aside from a couple of bugs.

Been using it to read to, using Kindle app whichworks great.

Seriously looking forward to ICS! (Whenever that comes)

2 questions please guys -

1) is the best way to watch video files on the touchpad through Kalemsoft via WebOS? I believe the hardware acceleration isn't working yet in Android?

2) what is the best way of playing emulators with a sixaxis pad in terms of key mapping? do you have to manually map buttons for each emulator? I only tried SuperGnes but it only recognised the square button on the pad...

Been reading up on this thread before I install android but the powering up to android rather than WebOS puts me off...

Is there anyway this can be defaulted to WebOS when switched on or rebooted?
