The µ43 thread - welcome to the really dark side

The bag is the Think Tank Retrospective 5 - perfect size for this camera / lens combo and a few bits and bobs if needed. Wanted something that was really well made but didn't scream out "mug-me!" - not the cheapest but the this feels like it will last an age.

I like the option of covering the velcro strips if I want to remain silent / ease of access.

Postbox where did you buy your camera from and how much did you pay please? :)

Best price I can find is £1000 for the same deal, that camera with that lens.

been on holiday for a 4 days now and been lugging around a 60d, 100 macro, 15-50 f2.8 and a 70-200mm l f4, and seriously starting to think about selling and getting something not quite so heavy!! and bulky!!

Does anyone recommend uv filters? Considering one for my 14mm pancake lens (mainly to stop scratches!)

I use the Hoya digital protector ones only because I have lens OCD and a tendancy to not to notice obstructions when looking through cameras.

They are claimed to make zero difference to light transmission to the lens. The general opinion is that modern digital cameras handle UV perfectly well on their own anyway.

I think I paid just a little over that but I got it from official Olympus site with the kind help of a member from here (discount code) so I got 5 years warranty and not a whiff of Greyness :)

Ah yes, Infernox. What a guy :D

I can't buy until I sell my DSLR, which a friend may be buying. So depending on what he does I'll either be buying very soon or in a few weeks. I'm quite excited! :)

Love the ThinkTank bag, got a couple but my main is a Retrospective 20 (back from I had my large ass Nikon with 70-200 f/2.8). Managed to fit all my Sony gear in which is nice. They also come with a lifetime warranty so worth every penny!

Impressed with my new 14mm 2.5 lens from ebay! Fantastically small and infact came with a free UV lens. Great value for circa 90 quid second hand

I still don't have lightroom, is it significantly better than using a jpeg? ( I shoot in Jpeg+RAW large format) I used to have a rough idea about filters etc in photoshop.

Also when shooting on olympus e-pl5 does everyone use manual, or is it better to use another mode?

Nice photo! What make was the lens?
To answer your questions, Lightroom will work with jpeg too, not just RAW.
However if using RAW you do have much more flexibility to manage exposure, white balance etc post shoot. Out of the camera though the image is generally very flat compared to jpeg.
I guess better is subjective, as you may edit the RAW to end up like the jpeg! i like the flexibility it gives though to process how I want the photo, and recover from the occassional mistake!

I use my E-PL5 mostly in aperture priority on static shots and shutter priority on moving items. i only use manual when using a manual (non ttl) flash.
Nothing wrong though in using manual all the time, but more work :)

Ah it's a Panasonic Lumix G 14mm f2.5 ASPH (I had to check eBay for the make, my mind was going blank) . Great little lens (pancake!) . I'll have to try out the priority modes.

How much does light room generally cost?

A panorama from today's day trip to Guildford. Taken by Oly EM1 and 12-40 pro, F9@14mm. Straight out of the camera as jpeg and automatically stitched in photoshop.

Very nice.

I was looking at the GX8 as a second body for dedicated photo trips, but went for the G7 instead as I wanted no control / ergonomic compromises to live with as I have enough of those with my GM5.
