I've got a cheapo Metz flash that does the trick for the simple things I need a flash for. Recycle time isn't brilliant but other than that it's OK for the money.

Nice list. I'd recommend getting a pancake of some sort too for the odd occasion where you just want to chuck it in your jacket pocket.

Erm, I think its the Metz 36 MF-5. Cheap n cheerful, just don't expect anything amazing!

I'll do some research before buying but don't want to spend huge amounts as I'm more of a natural light gjy anyway

Have you had a m43 yet to play with? As much as I like my tiny camera, the noise level is /nowhere/ near as good as my 5D mkII -- it's not /bad/ but quite frankly in low light there are no comparison..

Not bashing here or anything, just my experience...

The 12mm oly is very good, I like it a a walkabout lens as well as for landscapes

Some of the faster primes are pretty good in low light. What camera/lens combo did you try?

Precisely why I bought it. The kit lens isn't absolute crap either. Working out what prime to go for as I'd quite like something fairly wide.
