The µ43 thread - welcome to the really dark side

Was just gonna reply with that.

Also, if you like fisheye, the samyang 8.5 is quite good value.

That looks pretty good... There is that Olympus body cap one which whilst is a bit of a gimmick it seems to give pretty good IQ

e; Will probably get a fisheye, this 17mm prime and maybe a longer zoom to go with the kit lens :)

Anyone here use lens pouches? Don't really want to carry a camera bag as that defeats the point of traveling light, but would like to take my other (when I buy them) lenses with me so could just chuck them in a lens pouch and then into my rucksack?

Also is the Peak Design Leash/Cuff still recommended?

I just use the super cheap 'matin' branded lens pouches from eBay. Only cost a few quid delivered.

Just had a google of those Matin pouches, look like good value for money for what is essentially just a padded bag!

I wouldn't worry about the effectiveness of water proofing (for obvious reasons!!!) but might come in usefull if you have cold water or something in your bag that generates some condensation for example , or have a leak!

Might have an investigation into one for 12-40mm and 40-150.

I use the Ex-Pro neoprene ones when I want to carry a second lens in a back/pack alongside the el cheapo padded insert that my GM5 lives in.

Under £10 for a set of 4, but the largest sized one is way too big even form my Panny 100-300mm.

The Peak Design Leash/Cuff combo is very good, but I found the connectors got in the way when using smaller cameras such as my GM5 daily carry.

I use OP Tech USA Mini QD connectors along with Artisan & Artist Easy Slider straps which gives instant strap length adjustment along with quick swapping of straps (wrist cuff or padded sling for use with larger lenses).

Not had a decent camera in a little while so Looking to get the EM5 MKII, does anyone have this? Would you recommend it? Any other camera to think about in that price range. Looking at the Oly 12-40 too.

Cheers

Love the macro shots sold my pana leica macro, i now use my olympus pro 40-150mm with t/c for macro shots if required ,but i dont think it magnifies as well as the 60mm
Has anyone tried the focus stacking and bracketing on the olympus i know my em-1 gets the update in november ,do you think this is a macro feature only or could it be used for lanscapes ,

SO whats everybody's opinion on the best bang for buck one then?

And can somebody tell me why I'd want any of these over a Sony A6000? What am I missing?

Bang for buck gx7 ,g7 em-5 or epl probably as well priced as Sony ,more native lenses for m43 second only to canon now I think although tele photo lenses missing at the moment but coming soon .
Still m43 will be lighter and smaller than apc with lenses ,
The latest m43 cameras offer more in built ibis class leading ,my gx8 has one of the best view finders I've used, the more expensive m43 offer weather sealing don't think Sony does ,4K capable is a given latest Panasonic cameras ,hi Rez mode on Olympus looks interesting .are some of the reasons

This is the killer feature of m43 and something that the bigger formats will not catchup with, the sensor tech also seems to have been progressing nicely with decent improvements at each iteration which bodes well for the future. I'm still tempted by the format as I seem to be using my EOS M more and more.
