The µ43 thread - welcome to the really dark side

Tempted by a wireless remote shutter for the E-M5ii - So I can stick the camera on a tripod and take a photo of the missus and I when travelling. Also because wireless is cooler than wired!

Any recommendations? The ability to use bulb mode and for continuous shooting for star trails would be good.

Can't you just use wifi and the app on ur phone to adjust settings and take pictures????

Just checked and bulb mode is available on the app

I've used the wifi on the Epl5 before, range is about 15-20 feet at best.

Has pretty much all the functionality the camera gets on manual mode, refresh rate inst great but good enough, dont forget to keep your phone out of the shot :D

Very surprising that there's no filter connection, what are you supposed to do when taken landscapes photos with a 90 degree sun such as most of the day, ie a polarizer?

Polarisers don't work well at wider than 24mm FF (12mm m43), you get very uneven skies.

Range might better on the mark 2 . I've seen people saying up to 75 feet. Maybe it's the phone that matters?

Damn wez. Wake up this morning, see this post about you selling your lens, go look in mum to buy it and it's gone overnight :(

Sorry, you have to be quick!, if you'd have posted and asked me to keep it back whilst you sorted it out, i'd have kept it for one of my fellow ocukers. You'll get another for a similar price, there's plenty out there.

My fault making my mind up over which cmaera to get. Only decided finally on the olympus yesterday and a stag do last night got in the way ;)

I had NO idea you could do it over Wifi...

OK I'll play around with that first :D

Yeah if it works at far enough range then saves another item to buy/pack ;)

Plus from what i have read you can change every manual feature of the camera via the phone app so handy when shooting on a tripod. Allows you to be away from the camera and make any adjustments needed.

Plus i think you can preview the pics on the app too.

And since you are travelling you can use your phone to gps tag all your shots too. :)

This, the app is quite feature packed. It's just like having the camera in your hand, you can control everything (except where your lens points). Ideal for wildlife photography etc.

Woop woop!

I think ive grabbed myself a bargain (hopefully)

Got a Olympus E-M5ii EM-5 Mark 2 Silver (6 months old, 4300 shutter activations) with 3 extra genuine Olympus batteries and the Olympus HDL-8 Battery Grip, 2-Part fro £616.

So just need to buy myself some lenses now :)

The batteries alone cost about £40 each! I have compatibles that work in original charger, paid £10 for 2 x 2200mh so they last longer.

Excellent bargain Greebo, good work!

Hoping to shift most of my DSLR gear this week to begin buying m43 :)

Yeah wasn't going to get a 5 as decided it wasn't worth the extra money over the 10. But when i saw this with the 3 extra batteries and the grip (alone would cost £200 - not sure id' buy one at that price though) it would have been daft not to grab it. :)

So on my shopping list now is a nice 12-40 2.8 pro lens, maybe the normal 40-150 f4-f5.6 lens (gets great reviews for a budget lens and handy to have something in that range), the 60mm macro lens and then a couple of primes, maybe a 17mm and a 25mm.
