The µ43 thread - welcome to the really dark side

Bagged a Olympus ED 40 - 150mm F4.0-5.6 R with Olympus MCON-P01 Macro Converter with lens hood for £85 from Ebay tonight.

Seems like a good bargain especially since the macro converters are £59 new and £30 on ebay. The lens hood is another £7. Basically got the lens for £48 especially since i was genuinely considering buying the Macro converter

Just the 12-40 f2.8, 45mm and another small prime to go now :)

Kacha have confirmed stock in the next week or two. I'm ready to purchase and have the money waiting.

May order the 9-18 in the mean time :) or a cheeky prime.

Ooorrr both :D

I knew it was a mistake to click this thread. Was currently looking to swap from Nikon to Canon for DSLR just for a change and had made up my mind. Now I am looking at an Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II...

I was watching that on eBay :p

Question for you bods out there..

How do the macro converters work? Do they degrade the image quality in anyway? Do they work for all lenses, do they just increase the magnification, reduce a stop etc?

genuine question

Tempted to not sell the 25mm f1.8 prime yet, got some post wedding celebrations to take some photos of and need the extra speed over the 12-40 :D

I'll let you know tomorrow. I think the Olympus Macro converter is listed as working with 3 specific lenses in the range but I have seen people use it with other lens.

Basically work by decreasing the minimum focus distance and hence magnification size of the image.

It's only a temporary stop gap as I really want to buy the Olympus 60mm macro lens anyway but I think I've done enough spending this month.

Btw let me know when your selling your lens, it's on my to buy list :)

M5ii + 12-40 f/2.8 all in black is on it's way to me :D

Just the 17mm f/1.8 to go but I'll hold fire for now. £1800 on camera gear in 2 days is enough for now :D

Ouch, the 60mm is the only lens i need to complete my wishlist, i can't really be buying another lens when i've just bought the 75-300 last week and i'm going away for 6 weeks in 8 weeks :(
