The µ43 thread - welcome to the really dark side

Just a heads up. The Olympus 25mm f1.8 is only £189 with cash back on Amazon atm. Bargain. And another prime added to my growing collection. :)

It's a great lens out and about. We just went out to forest with kids and E-M10 and it stayed pretty much all time on camera. We had the 40-150mm on for a while but photos were meh in comparison...which I guess is too be expected.

Problem I have now if wife is not going to like me hogging it on E-M5 II :D (which according to tracking is sat in Dubai at the moment)

yeah digital rev... I've ordered in the past and had no problems. they always reply promptly to cust service emails. Fingers crossed all good this time.

Can't argue with getting a £800-900 body for £629 ...... though remains to be seen if UK VAT charged and duty, which by rights it should be

This shot saved from facebook (barf) and upped to dropbox

Nice pics Flukester. i blame you (and amazon) for the fact i now have a 25mm coming.

I think I should stop now.

45mm f1.8
25mm f1.8
40-150 standard zoom

Phate just bought his E-M5 II and 12-40 from HDEW, apparently service was good. Haven't used them myself but had read enough reassuring things that I was going to buy my E-M5 from them a couple of years ago before a bargain popped up elsewhere.

Yeah hdew seems okay. Like all imports though, if you're are unlucky enough to get hit by customs it might be another £200.

That's why it's only £450 and a genuine price. Import duty and vat makes up the rest.

Thanks :), I'm a real noob with photography, but want to learn. I'm a total convert to 4/3 though.

I think you have it all covered with those lenses hah. I just want the 45 now which is on my xmas list :)

I've been thinking about the arrival of compacts etc with full frame sensors... seems great, but the lenses on them are surely going to be stupid sized ?. So Sony have that full frame compact... to match my little 40-150 it's gonna need 80-300 which is gonna be size of a small house :)

Yeah I feel the same. I like the review of FF compacts and nothing beats them for quality but like you said, the lens are huge and are also going to cost you double the price.

Every time I buy a new lens for the em5 and I open the box and hold it in my hand, I still say "is that it?" :)

I do think olympus are missing a trick though. They should be some f1 primes in the range. They still wouldnt be large or heavy compared to FF counterparts and would really give micro 4/3 another edge.

I would love a 25mm f1 lens or even a f1.8 14-40m zoom.

I'm 99% sure that HDEW ship to you from within the UK so there is no risk of import duty. At least that was the case when I last looked in to it, has it changed? I believe they will also supply a Vat receipt on request.

Phate?

Thats it!

They have them in stock already and ship from the UK to you, so no import duty. Then they offer their own form of warranty. So it's the best of both worlds really.

I'd recommend them.

Nice. Just saw I missed at the weeked Amazon were doing the 60mm macro for £275 then you get £75 cashback from olympus so it would have only been £200.

Perhaps it was a good idea i did miss it :)

Oops i stand corrected then. Absolute steal at under £450 and no chance of import duties then.

Yeah I was gutted to miss that. Don't know how long it was up for but I think I spotted the deal about an hour after the price went back up :/

This is gonna get expensive :). 45mm on order also as missus won't give up the 25mm :(
