The United Britain of Great Kingdom

My plane is about to take off after a fantastic week in Scotland, so excuse me if as i will be offline.

If you spent more time taking advantage of the free educational support the UK offers, instead of denigrating it, you wouldn't need a spell checker.

Hang on, let me just spell check that, I would be mortified to give you the satisfaction ;)

your phones spell checker didn't do those typos.

edit: there's also no argument to make. you're that busy embarrassing yourself with semi legible posts you completely missed the sentiment of the OP. but you keep going, it's entertaining to read.

If you actually read the first post then the poster asks what you like about the UK, not if that chosen thing is better than how other countries do it. Instead you just jumped in, trashed half the posts and now you are ranting about colonialism.
I read that fine, i just found it odd how people mentioned things that were pretty typical in developed countries, so found it odd to mention such things. I actually thought a little about some genuine things that i like about the UK.
Otherwise, where dk you draw the line? I like the fact that the UK has clean drinking water in every house, and there is proper sanitation infrastructure which is a vast advantage compared to the poorest regions of the world. Is this particularly relevant? It is at least on par with talks of legal systems and friendly, welcoming inhabitants.

We love to knock it. The weather, the out-of-control kids, the out-of-control dogs, the weather again, old people, our history, the monarchy, the government, our future, stupid people, experts, the media... I could go on. BUT

What is your favourite thing about our floating home? Positivity only, please.
Without a doubt, we Swedes love the traditional British pubs. Always good to sit in a quiet corner at 18.00, and listen to the locals come in and discuss their day. Wonderful

For me its probably the sport (Rugby and Football mainly) and the "friendly" rivalries although thats mainly Rugby (6 Nations).
I find it harder and harder to overlook the bad things though and where we seem to be heading.

The weather, you mean? :)

I missed out mentioning our great boozers, they are indeed something unique, (very poor attempts at recreating them elsewhere occur, but they are merely "English style"). I used to do a lot of work modifying Swedish cars, and always found the Swedes shared a similarly robust sense of humour to ourselves. If I had to be dragged elsewhere from England, then Sweden would not be a worrisome destination.

It was noted :) What's your bleedin' agenda then? ;)
I don't have one. I'm pretty open minded and happy go lucky. I generally like cultural and societal diversity makes life more interesting. I'm in the UK because I enjoy it. If I hated it I wouldn't be here. There are elements I dislike but having lived in multiple countries they all have their flaws and benefits. Currently the UK is where I consider home and enjoy it.

Life here is a doddle here and therefore good. If it wasn't we'd not be fixated on politics and general negative stuff, unless you're victim of a crime or in chronic pain, then life's not so great sadly.

I like the fact we still do have some old buildings about despite the WW2 bombings.

BRB, moving to Venezuela for some excitement.

Football and the sport.... WTF football has done more harm to sport in the UK than anything.

I remember when sport meant anything and not just Football, Cricket, Rugby and the TOFF BBC Tennis, rammed down our throats 24/7 by the BBC,ITV we used to get proper sports like Wrestling, times trials, cyclo cross, cross country running, speedway.

British grub I like

Fish and chips
Toad in the hole
Pie and mash
sausage and mash
full English brekkie
Roast dinner
Fruit pie or crumble with custard
spotted dick/sticky toffee pudding/bread and butter pudding

Yeah its ok you saying that now, when i was 6 Giant Haystacks would have smashed your face in and you would be crying for big daddy to help.
