Is there such a thing as a small/compact vape stick I can buy that takes juices ? I currently have an MVP 2.0 ... buts its not exactly something I can take about with me.
Joyetech eGrip OLED CL 30w worth a look if small/compact are the key characteristics you are looking for.

Some cheaper mods do actually whine when under stress, this is down to the way the mod is trying to undervolt to get your desired wattage.
Lol the first time i heard a Variant firing was an eye opener , sounded like a snake was getting ready to strike.
The clone is a lot quieter but if you really push the watts then it can be heard , something to do with the frequency of the PWM.

Just ordered a Billow V2 because it looked good, should be here within 3 days if it comes into stock today. Hopefully I won't get dry hits with an RTA because it has massive air and juice holes

I recently got that and very impressed with it. Very easy to work with and for a cluts like me, I found it simple. huge clouds with tons of flavour. Holds loads of juice as well and for a compulsive vapour like me, that is a big plus. I have only tried it with suckerpunch (from my list on an earlier post) and a real good taste. Running it on a Vaporshark rDNA 40 @ 450F and 33w.

Also using the Delta II and whilst it is really good for flavour and clouds, juice just goes in no time and you can't see how much you have left. A real shame, as it is a great tank but let down for me by not seeing the juice.

Still my favourite tank is the Kayfun 3.1 and the best flavour tank of all I have.

I didn't think mine was cheap... Joyetech/eLeaf/TECC Curve 2 iStick thing. Rebrand, perhaps, but I thought these were reasonable quality?

Not really pushing the wattage either, using 6-8 of the supposd 20W available...

Weird!

For god sake twirly, I'm trying to save my vaping budget for a new mod, but you've made me wanting to order one imminently!

I've just sold a zephyrus and lemo2, so can justify the purchase :p

Sorry i did not mean that in a bad way.. but compared to a Yihi or DNA based chip, the isticks are cheap about at 6 - 8 watts on the 20w model i would not expect coil whine even on an istick..
Curve is not a rebrand though, its another branch of Eleaf :)

As long as I get no dry hits it's a winner for me. The Kayfun I have now starts of great and then deteriorates in flavour. I've checked the battery and wicks and all seem okay. Anyway it's time I bought a new tank. :D Oh and I hope it's not too airy as I need to get that back of the throat hit feeling. I liked how you don't need to empty the juice to gain access to change the wick.

Cthulhu V2 fist impressions...

Absolutely superb build quality, all the threading is spot on and smooth, very easy to strip down.

Airflow isn't massive, I usually love big wide open tanks, but this feels like they've gotten the airflow just perfect, not too much, not too little.

Flavor is very good, if the Aromamizer is a 10/10 then this is easily a 9/10, not quite on the same level but still very nice.

Just have a single coil build in just now, 9 wraps 26awg (i think) kanthal over a 2mm driver came out roughly 1.4 ohms, chugging away at 20w, just lovely, clouds (so far) aren't massive - but very dense.

It has a juice control ring, that works and is actually usable - take note Youde.

I have one big gripe with it though, to change decks you have to remove the 510 pin and unscrew the deck from the bottom - no problem? Well not if you have a small flat head driver to hand (which I don't, mine are at work!). They don't provide one, which seems like a no brainer to me, you get a phillips driver and an allen key, no flat head. Surely if China is full to the brim of little blue phillips drivers that get thrown in with every sodding thing you buy they could at least muster up some flat heads? :p

Hey all.

Used to post in here every now and again when it wasn't so advanced, still using a simple ego battery and a cleromiser but hoping to grab myself a more advanced kit to improve the whole vaping experience.

Spoke with a guy using a Kanger Subox (Edit Mini) kit which comes across at a beginner style of the more advanced kit so was hoping you guy's could give me some advise on how to get started.

Main questions are where would be the best place to order from within the UK, a recommendation of batteries and charger and what materials I need to buy to keep me going such as coil/wick.

Or even any recommendations on an alternative to the Kanger if you believe it is better.

Also maintenance wise does anything need replacing other than coils and wicking material?

Just build a dual coil titanium on my Mutation X V2, not used a dripper or dual coil build in ages, came out around .23..
2.5mm inner dia, 26awg, about 7 wraps each.. holly... forgot how powerful drippers where, 200c at the moment, 100w pre heat and 80w normal.. drops to about 75w while taking a pull, which i can only handle about 2-3 seconds as there is so much vapor :)

Yeah the Curve 2 is just an iStick 20w rebranded for totallywicked. Good bit of kit for the price! The whine you're referring to is the circuit working as intended, similarly to PWM, it switches the power supplied from the battery on/off repeatedly to give the power required, you'll notice the 'whine' changes as you vary the watts and disappears at max.

I think you'll get on great with an iStick 20 or 30w, although if you can handle a bit more weight I love the Wismec Presa 40w, both for design and ruggedness, I must have dropped mine three times a week for the past month. All simple to use (up/down for watts, micro-USB to charge), and a decent battery size (2200/2600/2600mAh respectively). As for tanks the Nautilus Mini is solid, and I've sold a few/heard good things back, about the eLeaf Melo, though I believe the ML coils only come in 0.5ohms, so the 20w istick won't drive it (it'd look silly anyway).

Hows everyone doing, apologies I've been absent!

Looking for a new RTA however. my UTA is serving me well but it's getting dinged up a bit, so want something more work horsey. Hearing a lot about the Aromamizer and Cthulu v2? Any others?

I see titanium is taking off. Worth investing in a box mod? I love temp control with Ni200 but it can be a pain to work with.

Welcome back Balky.

If you like temp control but find NI200 a pain as most do... then Titanium is the way forward at the moment, must easier to work with, less wraps needed to get the ohms and personally i think the flavour is better, but that is subjective.

Box mod wise, for Temp control... there are plenty out there from Sigelei, IPV, Kooper, Snow Wolf and many chinese variant mods, but the best are Yihi or DNA200 based.. you will pay more for a DNA200 mod though, but its performance and flexibility are second to none at the moment.

Hmm 3D printed enclosure, Do I or don't I

Just very quickly knocked this together in solid works.

Needs some finishing details (Lid & Magnet holes) but Shapeways would print me it for £18

Only one magnet/screw post?
Id buy one if it had magnet posts in the top and bottom right hand side, looks like the same size as the 84/60/24 CNC box we both have and i messed mine up last night cutting the screen and button and usb holes :(
Though also might want to round out the edges cause at around 60mm wide, it will get uncomfortable to hold.

It was only a quick mock up to get a rought price from shapeways

Its 81/63/25

Rounded edges etc wouldnt take long to add.

I've wimped out for now and I'm going to build mine in a Hammond Eddystone from the high street electronics store.

Its 111x60x31mm so a bit of a beasty but I'd rather a tidy big mod than a messy little one.

Do you know if the board will read resistance through escribe on just USB power? Was hoping I could plug it in and check my 510 wiring

if you connect the chip via usb without batteries it will power on and be seen by escribe, but it will not read the resistance of an attached atty, ive just tried it on mine to double check and the atomizer check is not registering and if i hit the fire button i get Check Atty error on the chip screen.
The USB wont fire an atty, as its only 5v, think the DNA200 needs 5 or 6v Minimum to fire, hence why it needs 2 cells at least...

111x60x31mm.. thats a big box... more suited to a 1300mAh or bigger lipo.
