As said, not the cheapest.

I get my PG here : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130853413769?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

And I get my VG from Boots : http://www.boots.com/en/Value-Health-Glycerin-B-P-200ml_852418/

While your in Boots, ask for a couple syringes and a couple 100ml glass bottles (get enough to split your PG into 100ml bottles, with a couple spare for mixing into). And don't forget the child proof caps. I used to mix in smaller quantities, 10ml, then 30ml, then 50ml, now I just do a few at 100ml every few months. Start small, for sure, you don't want to mix up 100ml of something you don't like. But you'll quickly progress into 100ml mixes. Firing it out into 30ml dropper bottles for convenience of use.

Nic I got from a GB so not sure where the best place to buy it is, but I'm sure you can pick up 100 ml for not too much money to start. (Darkstar vapour do 250ml for £16.99, I don't know if its any good, or if thats a good price, they were just first google hit).

You should have some 10ml and 30ml bottles kicking about already from previous liquids? Just give them a clean.

Needles I found a bit trickier from Boots. But ebay / amazon should sort you out here.

Then a few of whatever concentrates you desire.

You should be able to sort all that out for less than the £37 mentioned, but you will 1L of PG and 200ml of VG and potentially 250ml of nic base, so even if it's slightly more money in the end, you'll be able to make much more.

As said above, there is something to be said for the convenience of one order, but I'd rather just get more for my money.

Concentrates are the most expensive part here by far. Don't be fooled into thinking it's the nic like I did.

Chefs Vapour tend to be my first port of call for DIY stuff. They aren't the cheapest for nic/vg/pg but I like the convenience of placing one order

I had a quick look and it seem's they are lacking stock of most DIY products but have book marked it.

Okay great, Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to put my order together.

Quick couple of questions, So you are saying Boots will happily provide the syringes (specific type?) and glass bottles free of charge or have I miss interpreted?

Also due to using with a RDA I will be going for heavier VG than PG liquids but what is the benefit of filling 100ml bottles with 100ml of PG?

Yeah I realised concentrates are expensive but looking to have a few simple flavors nothing too extreme I will be happy knowing how cheap the liquid is. Perhaps a couple of 10ML batches until I go for the 100ML batch I think.

The bottles wont be free of charge, I think I was about 60p for a 100ml glass bottle, and around 12p for the childproof cap or something (I bought 30 or something when I went in as I had 2L of nic base and 1L of PG to bottle up).

Syringes may or may not be free. Depends on who you talk to. If you are buying stuff anyway, they may throw in a few for free. I mainly get the 10ml ones from them, but if you can get bigger ones, all the better. When you start doing 100ml mixes, you're looking at 20ml of concentrate, and often 60+ ml of VG (for VG heavy mixes). You will also go through them. The VG I find rubs off the graduation marks, so they then become useless as measuring devices. So they need replaced.

If you choose to use PG at all, then the 1L bottle is a bargain at £7.50 or so, compared to what you'd likely pay at a vape site.

But you don't just want to store your 1L at room temperature. You want to freeze it. Same as your nic. Splitting it into 100ml bottles means you can defrost smaller amounts at a time. No need to re-freeze, just store in fridge, until you need your next bottle. That's why you want the glass bottles too. Safer when stored in a freezer. Also, don't do what I did and measure them out to 100ml. Fill the bottles. Leave a little room for expansion, but aim to have them mostly full. More efficient on the number of bottles you need, but also reduces the air, which then becomes the only potential contaminant.

The entire bottom drawer of one of my freezers is filled with nic base and PG. I'll be fine when the TPD hits, lol. I think I have only used around 3 bottles since I took that pic though (although it is worth noting that I was suffering new year syndrome when I labelled them, and they were actually bottled in 2014). But I suspect I have over a decades worth left.

Exactly. Mix in 10ml batches until you find flavours you like. Even then, do a few 30ml / 50ml batches first, in case you go off them. Once you find your ADV, then 100ml batches are the way forward.

So I've just cottoned on to the fact that the Element juice I've been loading into my subvod is designed for mechanical/dripper mods which I'm guessing my vape is neither...should I stop using? Seems to be vaping perfect though!

Usually when they say juice is designed for dripping it just means it's high vg content. The vast majority of decent tanks these days will wick fine on max vg so I wouldn't worry about it, I have max vg in my subtank mini at the moment, it's like treacle (cold weather isn't helping) but wicks fine using the rba+, 4 wrap 2.5mm Clapton at 38w. :)

Element Dripper range will be fine in a subtank, i even used it in a nautilus Mini with no problems though its better with the Triton Mini Clapton coils.

Element will kill coils fairly quickly though as it has such a high sugar content.

5ml on a dripper yesterday with the Element Pink Grapefruit and the coils we're noticeably black already

Do any of you buy the Nicotine pre-mix base.
Chefs Vapour have a 120ml bottle of 70VG/30PG 6mg for £4.99

I was thinking that a bottle of that and a few concentrates will be ok and still way cheaper than the usual ready made stuff that I buy at like £10 for 15ml.
So I literally just squirt 10ml nic pre-mix out into a bottle, add ~1ml of flavour concentrate and that's it...no real mixing/mess to deal with.

I know this has been asked but where can I find good recipes?

Ordered this, seeing as I like vanilla/custardy stuff with hints of fruit.

Sent a message to try and swap one of the bottles of pre-mix to 3mg.

^that's what I do as I'm lazy, but still vastly cheaper then buying ready mades. That and I mix at work, don't want bottles of 72mg where some health and safety tube might find them :p

I buy my base from vapor depot, £9.99 for 250ml either 3 or 6mg, though they only do 100%vg or 100% pg bases. Seems to be really good quality, I got 500ml earlier in the week, mixing at 20% should give me somewhere over 600ml of juice, base has no scent or taste, vapes well, couldn't be happier.

Remember you are weakening the nicotine level when you are adding concentrate, so you either drop your nic level, or buy a slightly higher nic level. You can always add a bit of VG to bring nic levels down (for example, if you want to vape 3mg, and buy 6mg, the nic will still be higher than 3 once you add concentrate, but you can add VG to bring it down to 3mg).

And usually I use closer to 20% concentrate (so 8ml base + 2ml concentrate in a 10ml mix).

From what I've read just about all of vampire vapes concentrates are shake and vape, though quite a few of their flavors can be an acquired taste, so suggest making some small batches first if using them. I only really buy pinkman from them, 20-25% seems to be the sweet spot, using a VG base, some flavors will require more/less though.

I mainly use Vapours Oven, mix at 20%, leave for a week or so with regular shakes and its ready, or ready enough to enjoy anyhow, absolutely hooked on their 'man flu' frozen forest and lemon and lime aren't too shabby either :)

I'm still relatively new to mixing my own too, this will only be my second batch, so I'm open to suggestions on other concentrates to try too :D

My mate told me that you can get different flavoured concetrates, so no need to mix them together. He doesn't leave the liquid to settle, he just mixes it with a drill (duck tape :D) and after vapes on it.

I'll get sites from him from where he gets the concentrates to make his own liquid, I tried it whilst I was on holiday and it was nioce.

Edit The frozen forest from vapours oven was nice...

You can, just many people like to mix their own from more than 1. Menthol and fruit are almost always 'shake and vape', meaning they taste right from the start. Custards and baked types normally taste nasty to start with and only taste good after sitting for a few weeks.

My Steam Crave squonker has arrived, it is a very tidy mod, sold build and not too heavy with an 18650 in it, feels good in the hand with an almost slight rough looking but smooth matte paint finish, spring loaded 510 and comes with a spare bottle and tube too.
Cant wait to get home and get my Velocity built and running on it.
The instructions say its TC is for NI200 only but if you drop the TC limit down to 340F or lower, then it will work with TI... tried it myself using my Subtank with a twisted 26awg TI coil :)

The Original Joyetech eVic VTC Mini 75W TC Box Mod is currently £21.70 on Gearbest.
Would that be a good buy to finally retire my trusty istick 50w.
I understand that I would need a decent battery - Samsung 25r 18650.
Would it be worth getting a spare battery for this also - I don't have a separate charger other than an energizer one and an old vapex one....are these suitable.
I also assume the battery is charged via USB.

Theres also this- Original WISMEC Reuleaux RX200 TC 200W Box Mod for £29.60 on GB

Thank you for such an in-depth explanation! Really helps been doing some online reading too holding off making the order until next week now due to not being around for delivery.

Freezer space is slightly concerning though so I won't be bulk buying just yet.

Yeah, well you don't need to buy as much as me, lol. I bought 2L of nic remember. You probably would only need to cram about 7 bottles into your freezer with a 250ml nic buy and 1L of PG. Probably less by the time you keep some out for mixing it. But I do get you point.

I'm lucky in that I have a large American style freezer, and a garage with 2 further fridge freezers (although only one is used, and that's basically only for alcohol and this vape stuff).

I'm aiming for refreshing fruity flavours, not a fan of custards and baked types... Thanks for the tip though! :)

BTW My stuff arrived, tomorrow me and my mate will do some builds and see what outcome we can get. He had free delivery from one site for eliquid and wire so I'll have everything by tomorrow ready to build.

potato quality pic's :p

Edit: Has anyone on here used Mutation X V4 RDA? It looks tight on space, the only worry I've is leaking issues, will have to be extra careful with it...

Edit2: The liquid I ordered is SLURRICANE from RUTHLESS, the higher VG the bigger clouds, right? :p

I have used the Mutation X you should be fine carefully dripping/painting the juice on those coils.

You want to be aiming for a coil the same length as the bottom airhole to minimize leakage quite a tight build deck in my opinion too but I was using Clapton wire at 3mm diameter.

I'll be using 26g twisted Kanthal tomorrow, dual coils with 4-5 wraps should bring it to 0.25? We'll see, first build so'll probably look messy... :o
