Most of those "Stories" revolve around people putting unprotected batteries... lose in their pockets or a handbag, they are Not mods going bang, but simply lose batteries.

Indeed.

There's nothing special about Torchy and his batteries.

THIS!!

Getting slightly worried carrying my vaporizor around with me in my pocket considering all of the news stories with batteries going kaboom.

I'm guessing avoid the cheap nasty ones.

The latest one I read was the guy who's mod 'supposedly' caught on fire (Smok X Cube 2?). Turns out he was carrying a spare battery in his pocket, alongside his keys and loose change (in the same pocket may I add). It shorted and started to vent.

I think the majority of us in here have enough common sense to know that was a stupid thing to do. I don't think you have anything to be worried about personally, just do what any normal person would do, turn it off/lock it when it's in your pocket.

Been two 'reports' that I've seen recently.

The first was a guy in a gas station who had a loose 18650 floating about in a pocket full of change. He admitted it was his screw up and to be fair, this is a fairly basic no-no.

The second, video of a guy with a snow wolf 200w, randomly burst into flames. After much internet absurdness, the guy in the video posted to say that a tab on the rear of the mods door had shorted both cells to the casing, resulting in an explosion.

So all we have learnt from these two cases, is, don't keep a loose unprotected cell in a pocket (or at all!) with anything metallic and stay away from snow wolf mods.

The only way i can see that happen is if the battery crossover manages to "walk" out at the bottom of the case and hit the door, and the door's plastic inner lining has been removed.

Just as an experiment i tried to pull that tab out on mine here, and it doesnt look like it could be done unless its a badly beaten up mod or you try to mess with it with tools.

Guess its a thought to bear in mind, mine's pretty new and its a v1.5 rather than the original so might be different to that report, but i dont think i'll rush out just yet lol

I grew up during the time of public announcements was still on TV, there was a lot of smoking start fires announcements that was shown after the water shed... but there will always be stupid people.

It doesn't just apply to just vapers, but everyone... just that it's the new fad, sharing and publicising it just makes other stupid people believe that they will profit from sharing their story. You can't stop darwinism, if they don't kill themselves on one thing, they will on another.

You cant fix stupid. No matter how hard you try.

Unfortunately we are the medias current favourite for scaremongering.

On a lighter happier note, bought my self a VF Stout earlier, £63 after discount at my local B&M after much internal debate between the classic, lite and stout. Just need to order some 26650s now as I'm using 25Rs in it at the moment

It's all about battery safety my friend.

I've had to educate a few in the office as they've seen these stories that the tabloids spew out and worry that mines going to blow!

PM Pete or Ryan on SV, they work at the vaping works and have the basen 26650s in...

Video in question:

The fun starts around the 5min mark.

Not sure how it happened as I don't own a snow wolf 200w...the fellas comment explaining it though...

TO ALL THE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT BATTERIES: You sound like broken records, and it wasn't the batteries venting. The snow wolf 200 has a small tab on the back panel that can hit the conductors containing the batteries and cause them to arc. This has happened many times, however this time it shorted and overloaded.

Sounds like he knows the mod had potential to do damage but continued to use it.

As Nov says, you can't fix stupid :D

Can't see it on mine, the inside of the battery door is flat with a plastic sticker over it, the only tabs are the magnet tabs (nowhere near the battery in use) and the tab at the bottom for pulling the door off (which is flush with the back)

The connectors are all sitting pretty tight in there, it'd take some very definately intentional abuse to get mine to short on the door, namely removing the sticker and taking pliers to the battery connectors.

Yep, its not like battery cases are expensive and hard to find really, i wont carry one that isnt in a case or in a mod, hell i dont even stick mods in anything but a jacket breast pocket as i've got terrible luck with my stuff leaking like a seive if not kept vertical

I can only presume, by looking at the snow wolf, the bottom lever spring connectors have had enough use to bend up just enough to make contact with the battery door.

OR, he means the locating tab at the bottom, he hasn't sat the door on straight, said tab has wedged into the battery connectors...

Regardless, it sounds like the fella shouldn't be allowed to tie his own shoe laces let alone use a high power mod.

Anyone tried Blue Custard or Rocket Girl from Flavour boss?

I ordered 2x10ml's already made up to try before I buy.

The blue custard is fantastic and an order already made to mix up 1ltr of the stuff. Only been vaping it after getting home from work, and the 10ml bottle is now empty!
Rocket Girl smells good but not tried yet.

I hope it's not that great, I don't need as much juice as I'm buying :p

Yeah, the connector walking i reckon would be the most likely, although it'd require abuse and the removal of the interior sticker (assuming its the same as mine, it may well not be hence why they made a v1.5), but theyre pretty solid anyway.

The tab could feasably be stuck in, but the door would be essentially sticking out of the mod at right angles, in which case the tie his own shoelaces/darwin award comes into play .

It must be the v1-1.5 changes we're seeing as it defo doesnt look like it can happen on this one without there being noticable issues (like the walking battery connectors) which anyone with enough nonce would know to either fix or bin the mod.

I love both of these.

I'd also recommend the fresh squeeze...its an almost spot on clone of the elements dripper range version. Also it's shake and vape :)

Well i thought i would try to see how it was possible to short the batteries on my early V1 Snow wolf & i did get sparks
The only way i could do it was with the door 90 degrees to the base of the mod where the connectors are , the location tab on the bottom of the door will contact with the top of the battery sled.
No biggy , just a few sparks , never has happened in normal use over months & months of use.
I have put a thin strip of electrical tape over the top of the contacts so cannot even induce the problem.

I've never tried fresh squeeze, it's an alleged coil killer?

Just found a moonshot in stock in the UK, FT order cancelled. Woop! (Greyhaze - GH10 for a bit more off!)

Tried it over Christmas in my Aromamiser , after 20ml the wick & coils where completely black , never seen wicks this bad with any other juice.
This was Elements dripper range.

Will get in touch with them, good excuse to try some Grumpy juice as well. Seen the Keepowers from Norb mentioned quite a few times too

If its the same recipe as the VHB blue custard they did in the one shots from Chefs I really enjoyed the 100ml I mixed up

Cheers Jay.

All of the Element range are coil killers as they're so sweet, Fresh Squeeze is about 7% sweetener or some silly

Sounds like exactly what i'd have to do on the v1.5, the only reasonable explemation is using the door as a battery lever, but on the 1.5 at least there's a ribbon for that job.

I cant see it happening by accident thats for sure

Right... went out and got absolutely blackout drunk at the weekend. Now can't find my istick and Aromamizer RDTA, so it's time for a new mod!

Gonna go for the Wismec RX200, but what's the best place to grab batteries from? This thing takes 3x 18650s, so probably going to grab either 3 Efest purples or 3 Samsung 25R (ol' reliables). Where's the best place to pick them up in terms of price/shipping speed balance?

Already got a Crown coming from FT, so sorted for a tank. Might pick up another Aromamizer too.
