well ive ordered some stainless mesh, nichrome wire and an ego twist. ill report back once ive modded the clearo with it.

hopefully the battery will last longer than a month in this one and not burst like the last ego bat!

What is the difference in the wires? nichrome and kanthal, and the thickness?

From what i have read there is little to no difference in this application, it just happens to be the wire the shop i used had who also stocked the mesh and twist as well. basically just saved me the hassle of multiple orders.

I've heard kanthal is a bit more forgiving of hotspots and won't pop as easily as nichrome, but that's just what I've read so can't say much more

Yes, also nichrome will always have ever so slight a taste, where as kanthal will have quite a bad taste for the first few burns, then once the coil is bedded in it gives off virtually none.
The thickness's will make up how many coils you are able to get per OhM. The standard seems to be 32AWG or .20mm gauge.

Has anyone used anything by "bud? A new shop has opened in Bedford selling exclusively Bud stuff (liquids and disposable clearos).

I've got some of their strawberry flavour, which is really nice, just wondering if anyone else has used their stuff.

Can't believe I haven't spotted this thread before.

I've been vaping for about 2.5 months. Started on a cig-a-like then gave that to the mrs after a couple of weeks. Got myself an ego kit with a vivi nova then gave that to the mrs about a month ago. Now I'm using a buzz pro with a carto tank and punching my own boges. I'm currently looking at genesis atomizers and getting very tempted.

Should have guessed other PC builders/enthusiasts would be into this stuff. Its all just gadgetry.

Cheers bruce, ill go have a look at the classifieds every now and then, also might try the cheaper version as you say.

Actually i will try the cheap version, doesnt seem too bad in the reviews and will get me into the rebuildable side of things.

Well my VH-Rebuild/Phoenix/Rainbow V2-A (just some of the names its called) arrived today, pretty impressed with the quality, feels good and a nice weighty feel to it, threads are well cut as is the knurling for grip - Downside mine is vaping like a sack of **** out of the packet, not wicking and horrible taste.

Thankfully i did buy some wire and some wick and ive attempted to make my own with even more horrible results :( looks like im not cut out for this rebuildable lark - Got some more wick 1mm and some SS mesh coming later this week to faff around with.

I know this is based on the bulli tank, the only thing I could suggest is setting it up like the guy (Igetcha69)...did on the youtube video for the bulli atomiser.

I'd say you deffo need to do the wick the same as the bulli, ie. SS mesh with some wick wrapped inside it. I can't understand how it would wick at all without this.

If you google VH rebuild there's a few threads kicking about which may help you...good luck :)

Yup ive tried that, without the SS mesh its not working that correctly, the Terminals on the VH are not like the Bulli and require a bit of faffing around to build a coil that fits, also they are quite high and almost touch the spike plate, Overall im still happy with the purchase just something to keep my brain busy for a few days if nothing else lol

I quite like the bud tanks, very practical and when fresh they give a nice enough vape. After a couple of weeks though, they start to taste rank. However, less than a fiver a month is fair enough.

just wanted to say thank you for this thread.
after reading through several times i brought myself a riva starter kit a couple of weeks age and some ry-4 juice. i seem to have made the right choice as i quit a 30 year chain smoking habit as soon as i started vaping.
am now waiting on a lavatube and tempted to save up for a provari.

I've had the bulli for about 8 months now and I've gone back to the ego-c which I seem to be enjoying more.
Im not sure I know how to describe why I stopped, but the nearest I can get is that I always got a fibreglassy taste from the bulli - something always sort of made my throat catch on the draw, and I really like a harsh hit on the throat, so it wasn't the mix, as the same mix in other devices has been fine..

ok so i received my ego c twist, ego 650mah and heads this morning and after testing them and working fine, i stuck them on the fast charger and apparently its my charger that's faulty. i didn't noticed but the green led isn't lighting when i disconnect the battery.

im in the assumption that the charger isn't realising it has reached full charge and so is over charging the battery's with no cut off. it takes 2.5 hours to charge the battery's to full form empty, as long as i charge for 2 hours to insure it doesn't over charge should i be ok?

having already made my order and not wanting to pay postage just to order a £4 charger should the above be safe on these battery's? the charger is definitely depositing charge it just isn't automatically cutting off at full charge

Well my SS mesh came also some 1mm wick, so went ahead and followed the Bulli video exactly, and well the same outcome as before, horrid dry/burnt taste and the wick is almost bone dry, so it looks like some sort of wicking issue now - Also the airhole on this VH-Rebuild is located behind the post..which im sure isnt going to work but un-screwing it so its located near the coil/wick results in a very loose device that moves freely :( Starting to regret buying it but for £14 cant complain too much even if it seems i am lol.

I tried a ss wick in my clearo and i get a horrid metallic burnt taste, its awful so i whipped it straight out and ordered some normal wick.

Well done mate, take it slow and you'll appreciate the new gear more!

@edgedemon, I know what you mean. I stopped using my vivi nova and went back to my trusty mega DC cartos. The nova had better flavour and vapour, but it gave me a bit of a head-spinner when I vaped it (not sure if it vaporises nicotine better than a carto?), and it didn't wick my mainly VG juices well anyway. Sometimes cheap is not always bad.

I may just be posting drivel, but i think ive sorted out my VH-Rebuild now, after 11 attempts, yes Eleven i think ive worked out what was wrong.
1, The coil wick was too long either end and touching the sides, blocking the breather hole.
2, The coil itself was full of hot spots in the middle
3, And lastly my spike wick seemed to be crap lol

So i have 5 coils of 0.15mm Nic Chrome wire wrapped around 2mm wick, then i have 2 pieces of 1mm wick wrapped in SS mesh (no idea on the grade of this stuff its from C9Vaping), seems to be working well at 2.5ohms apparently according to my LT v2.1 from Vaporhut but currently running it in on my Ego-C battery for a while.

After using it for most of the day on the Ego-C, decided to put it on my LT and instantly after the first draw its burnt, so im guessing i have a wicking issue that it cant keep up, this does seem very much like an Ego-C but i can rebuild it...oh the joy lol :p
