Genesis users this question applies to, do you get a lot of juice build up inside the top cap and all over the top deck, everytime i pull the cap off to fill i get juice dribbling down the outside of the tank and its doing my tree in - im going to take a wild stab in the dark and say my wick and coil are not performing well enough and its spitting juice around.

Apparently the liquid can flow down the centre of the wick (if you use a straw-style wick) and leak out the top.

Nah its not that, mine is kept upright at all times, even in my picket it stays upright - its more a less a by product of vaping i think anyway, just interested to know from other genny users and maybe if their setup is different, as i say i think mine is an issue with it not vaporizing the juice completely and collects in the top.

i have noticed looking around the forums and looking at reviews, most expierenced vapors seem to use a tank with the punched metal cartomizer (i think its called that).
Is this because it looks better on the 510 mods or does it give a better vape then a clearomizer?

It's a way to combine the consistency of a carto with the simplicity of a tank. I've never tried it myself, but I can certainly see the benefit in theory. I just use a tank now because I can rewick it myself.

There's a few reasons why this happens, you've coiled the genny so well that the juice spits and farts as soon as power is used, turn your mod down a little if VV/VW or use a used battery in a mech mod until the wick/coil beds in.

Sounds like your genny is 'overwicking' where its taking too much juice up and the coil isn't able to vapourise it off quick enough. I sometimes get this on the DID and AGA-W when the coil is over 2.0 ohms using a mech mod. My cure is to take a wrap off the coil to make it around 1.5 - 1.8 ohms.

Do you put a plug in the fill hole? If not, this could also be a problem as every-time you tilt the genny, juice comes back through that hole.

I get some but not loads. It doesn't bother me much a drop or two maybe drips down when I take the cap off. For me at least I think it is a mix off all the things it could be. Some over wicking and a bit of vapour being stuck in the top cap and becoming liquid again. Most of mine seems to be in the fill screw head, no idea why it pools in the cross.

The opposite to this I believe, if you plug the fill hole, when you take a vape the pressure build up can cause your problems. Also if you leave the fill hole open you get a slightly better residual flavour with air flow through the tank.
Tank/carto setups are a step backwards from a good genesis setup on a few levels. I believe Scott pretty much exclusively vapes a genny now, he was slow to get on board too. ;)

Oh and regarding current all day vape El-Toro's Cigarillos for me. I use my DIY mixes, at the minute on Swedish Fish and Gummy Bear (Flavour West Flavourings from Alba Vapours) and my own Vanilla Custard recipe using Capellas. Mainly DIY to save a bit of money also to have flavour changes as even Cigarillos becomes tasteless if I vape it for a few weeks without change.

Looking forward to trying the new Minataur Ejuice from El-Toro. Hopeful I will like it as it is described as like the Cigarillos. (I only like the El-Toro Cigarillos blends, i.e. Eden ad Silverberry. Not keen at all on the Virginia Prime and its blends, Paris and the coffee one. Also dislike the Guevara and Puros. Just to show I am not a total El-Toro fanboy, though others love those blends.

*Edit. Weird my post count is at 2 and I have gained a 0, though my join date is the same.

Yay my DIY mixing kit arrived today, good service from leisureliquids will use them again in future, the capellas VC smells soooooo lush in the bottle i want to vape it right now lol

Plan of action, im going to mix all my PG/VG and nic base into a Bulk liquid of 50/50 at 18mg, so after that i only have to add the concentrates and sweetners to that bulk so will make it easier to fine tune the mix - Then hopefully in a week (steep time) ill have some VC i can vape on - needs to happen soon my GVC is down to the last 30ml

ultrasonic cleaners speed up the process, never tried it myself though.

true as this happened to me when I started off.
If I remember I'll post some trouble shooting tips later with pics.
The wick should fit snug in the hole, and not too loose so it wobbles around.

Well after a lot of looking around I finally decided to get a Vamo V2 Stainless.
It seems to be pretty popular on the net and the build quality is very good. For the money I think its a pukka deal.

To go with it I've got a pair of Keeppower 3400mAh 18650 batteries (which use the latest Panasonic NCR18650B cells) and a Xtar WP2II Dual Channel Li-ion 3.7v Charger. Sorted.

Also got a Kanger Protank ordered as I fancied comparing it against my iclear 30 (which is great).

Been vaping El Toro juices lately, I've been trying out Puros, Guevara and Virginia Prime.
I will get around to trying out Cigarrillos as everyone seems to talk about it.

:)

I've got the ss vamo and same keeppower 3400's, seems to be down to luck if they fit the vamo or not, ive got 4, 2 fit and 2 are too wide/fat.

If i had to buy again would have just got the unprotected cells rather than have to cut the protection off if they dont fit

Yeah I would go for IMR batts and save the hassle. I vaguely remember reading that they handle higher volts better than the protected batteries, but I could be wrong.

Afaik if you ignore the chemistry/safety side of things with IMR vs. lithium its down to the amps they can supply 2c vs. 8c

But those panasonics at 2c are rated more than enough to supply 15w to anything if needed.

seems like IMR are lagging behind on capacity so people are looking to these panasonics.

Info as promised.

Juice build up can be because of numerous things:

1. Too short and thin wick

This is how the wick should sit. Very snug inside the hole, but not jammed in.

Not like this

2. Genesis by nature will leak, so do not hold it horizontally or upside down lol. Just a slight tilt will do.

3. Wrong grade mesh. Which one to buy (dpi grade e.g. 300, 400, 500) depends on your ejuice base (VG/PG ratio)

4. Too low a voltage. The PV isn't burning the ejuice efficiently. Use this chart as a guide what to select based on your resistance. This is applicable for single coil delivery systems too.

5. Over-saturated or Flooded wick. Yes wicks can flood too. When building it, it should be moist not wet.

6. Juice coming through a non insulated fill hole.

Yup.

No need for protected batteries as voltage cut off and over heat protection is handled by decent PV's. The added length of some (2mm iirc) means that it won't sit flush in the tube and will some threads showing.

Safe Chemistry batteries will do. IW IMR or IMR.

Just be careful with batteries, as some PV's don't take to flat tops and some button tops.

Hopefully the batteries fit when it all arrives!

How are you finding the SS Vamo? I presume you have the version 2.

I love mine, had it for a good 4 months or so and no complaints whatsoever. I've recently started using it in mini mode for when I go to work, and then full size for weekends at home or long days out. Just a great bit of kit for the price.

I'm keeping an eye on the centre pin though because I think I've over tightened a few atties and pushed it it a bit.

Got to agree the Vamo is great for the money. It doesn't have as tight machining as some of the more expensive mods so the tubes can vary a little which means some batteries might work in some and not others The new hot spring helps, most batteries don't rattle any more.

I personally don't think mods in the £100s range offer enough over cheaper ones to be worth it but if it floats your boat great.

I'm thinking about buying a mechanical mod for pulsing my genies. You can't really do it on protected stuff because you are creating shorts. It is something I want to read more about first to make sure I'd be doing it safely. Also looking into buying some going out stuff as my Vamo and Aga aren't really that portable / pocket friendly.
