Well, I've given up on DV Vanilla Ice. It's just too....mellow for my tastes. I've got about 9ml of concentrate left if anyone wants to trade anything for it?

For those who bought a tornado tank system from TW, what replacement atomisers are you using?
I tried a 'eGo Tank Atomiser - Standard Resistance' from ecig-wizard and it is not very good, it feels like Im drawing to much air with each drag and there isn't any flavour, though a fair bit of vapour.
Interestingly, I have gone back to feeling a bit twitchy, so Im obviously not getting my fix with this atomiser..
Im going to try the 'iTank Atomiser' next and see if that is any better.

What are the rest of you using in your tornado tanks?

Decided to try this trick on one of my poorly tank atomisers today. This one was becoming hard to suck through, flavour was weak and vapour poor. Read about it on a vaping forum

Using a pair of needle nosed pliers, pull out the spike plate which has the wick attached from the top of the atomiser

Gunk!

Gas soldering iron with blow torch attachment

Hold the spike plate in the flame briefly until the gunk burns off and the wick is white again. Couldn't take any photos, I did try

Ta da!

Wash out the atomiser with hot water (I rinsed the wick too) and reassemble

I used one of these screw drivers with the changeable bits to push the spike back in, fits perfectly

One good as new atomiser :)

Apparently it is over 50% success rate but if I get another week or two out this attie I'm a happy bunny

After reading through this thread with great interest, I finally took the plunge last week and bought myself the Ego-T 1000mah starter kit and some flavours.

6 days on and not craving a cig, and seriously enjoying the flavours I've got here.

Favourite so far has to be DV fruit punch - just awesome! Closely followed by whiskey cream from UK Vapers.

Anyone got any flavours that might be worth a tickle? I tried Green Cow - was lush but I think I vaped a little too much of the stuff :D

d_brennen I've been rewicking for a bit, works out fairly well. I dry burn the coil while the wick is out since I can see what is happening. The coil cleaning makes the most difference I find. It is more a coating of gunk that causes issues for me than the wick being dirty. Bad flavours can be either thou.

For anyone interested the 200ml 52mg/ml base is fairly tasteless but has an ashy smell that other bases I've had don't have. So I'd say it ain't as 'clean' as other base liquid but I can't taste anything mixing it up with just PG.

I gave up with Tanks a while ago, found them all lacking in flavour.

One thing I did notice though, the cheaper tank atomisers were really bad. I tried the ECigwizard Ego-t, and thier I-tank..hopeless.

The best tank atomiser out there is the Type B. it holds 2ml, but it really pays to get the genuine Joye or Janty version. more expensive, but they work much better.
The only stockists I know of to sell genuines are totally wicked, cloud 9, Ivapour ~elixir and liberty flights.

Damn, I have 2 i-tanks on the way..
Will try the ones from liberty flights and report back.
If you gave up on tanks, what are you using now?

Hope you have better luck than I did with the I-tank then :)

But if you're going to stick with tanks, pay a bit more for the Type B. They hold more liquid, wick a little better and the flavour is improved from the Type A's.

As far as i know, the tank atomisers from Ecigwizard are copies. Certainly, the 3 different types i tried there worked nothing like the original Joye/Janty tanks I used.(which were ok).

I use Boge cartomisers - LR for the Tornado, and standard 3.0 ohms on a Provari.
And dual coil cartomisers - 1.5 ohms for the tornado, and 2.0 ohms on Provari.

Cartomisers are a lot cheaper and more reliable than the tank atomisers. ;)

Cheers, more reading to do :/

Don't even know what a cartomiser is ha!

Edit: Quick one for bruce, this the dual coil cartomiser you speak of?

How long do they last? Can't be long if they are £9.99 for 3

Those are good on the Tornado. I use few different types of dual coils, icluding those.

I get at around 10 - 15 ml of juice through a cartomiser on average, then they get bunged up. they're cheap and good value.

Ecigwizard are good for all variations of dual coils and boge cartos, and a better price than TW. Use the code ECR69 for 15%, and it's free shipping.

I liked the idea of cartomisers until I saw how long they lasted you?
Im typically around 3 ml a day, so if we take worst case scenario, Im looking at a cart every 3 - 3.5 days, which would mean 9 a month, so 30 quid just on carts per month :(
Im guessing that if you vape sweet flavours then they get bunged up quicker due to the thicker fluid?

Might order one and try it and see if the taste/vapour is worth the extra expense..

Feel exactly the same about them tbh. I've ordered 2 from ecigwizard to try, not going to bother with them if they last 2 days. Can't fault my tank atties lifespan, had 3 of them for 3 months.

What vaping needs is a truly serviceable device where all parts can be changed and made to a high standard. I've seen some devices (mainly from the States) that look promising but the cost an arm and a leg!

Looking to cut down on the smokes and see this as a good alternative to buying a packets of fags when on a night out on the town.

Seems like a wealth of information in this thread, but I'm still not really sure what I need or what the difference is between different kit.

I've been looking at the Ego-T starter kits and reading about low resistance atomizers, but I still don't really understand what I need to get started and what needs to be replaced after a period of usage.

Are there any good guides available or can anyone point me at something that will get me started or provide advice other than just pointing me at a starter kit?
Information such as how long to expect the kit to last, why people mod them and what the mods achieve and the difference between tank based and dripping which seems to pop up a lot in threads.

The other thing that I've read is that nicotine based liquids aren't allowed to be sold in Australia, so none of the local ecig vendors sell nicotine based fluids, just fruit based and the like, so does anyone know of a UK supplier who exports overseas?

Appreciate your help.
Thanks.

My Tornado Tank (synonymous with eGo-T, it has been rebranded is all) starter kit from Totally Wicked lasted 6 weeks before I had to replace anything (one of the atomisers) still using the same batteries that came with the kit.

The liquid that came with the kit (5 pre-filled 1.2ml tanks) lasted about 5 days.

People use mods to try and get the best of different components; e.g. people like to use the tornado/eGo-T batteries, but they don't like the 510 atomisers, so they mod them to use 801/901 atomisers etc. :)

It's all about the flavour and the energy needed to convert that sticky liquid into flavoursome vapour. The "magic" number is ~7W (Watts) apparently, so using the right battery with the right atomiser is very important to some.

However, I would argue that the majority don't care enough to bother with the numbers/mods, and just use kit that works well.

Dual coils are £1.50 - 1 lasts me a week.
Boge cartos are a quid - 2 lasts me a week.

I could get longer from them, but choose to bin them. They're cheap enough, and taste better over a shorter period.

My mate gets 2-4 weeks out of 1 Boge carto. Christ knows what they taste like by then lol.

So that's £14 a month for quality vaping using cartomisers.

Tank atomisers used to last me a week. Say £8 each with a cart. £32 a month. I also had 3 that died within 3 days.

I find it's cheaper, more reliable and a better experience with cartos. I've not had a dud cartomiser since i began using them 4 months ago.

Oh dear, my standard and LR atty for my tornado both have a horrible burning taste, or something cant describe it, but its a horrible taste in my throat, i washed them out last night and stood to dry, primed both this morning and both taste like crap, downside i cant buy another atty till next week now :( no funds in bank to allow me to purchase.
