Poll: The Vega Review Thread.

What do we think about Vega?

  • What has AMD been doing for the past 1-2 years?

  • It consumes how many watts and is how loud!!!

  • It is not that bad.

  • Want to buy but put off by pricing and warranty.

  • I will be buying one for sure (I own a Freesync monitor so have little choice).

  • Better red than dead.

But correct if I'm wrong, it's not possible to get a 56 is it?

My 2p: I'll be replacing my 290 with an nvidia card. I am not having another AMD heater regardless of the value.

It won't be a very long wait(two weeks time),and from what I gather it will land at between £349 to £399 according to Gibbo.

Also looking at the power consumption its around 35W to 45W less than a R9 390,and in some games even less than an RX580(!),which by AMD standards is an improvement.

Plus the R9 290/R9 390 are awesome cards - I know people who have had them for years, and they keep on going and most of them are not PC enthusiasts either,so are not fiddling with their PCs all the time either. I just told them to get a decent 500W~600W Seasonic PSU,and a case with good airflow and they were good to go.

well the good thing about the Vega release is that we are getting a load of up to date Fiji results from multiple sources ! About time !

Looks like AMD have made a really good card and shown they can still make a card with performance to compete at the top end.

Small matter that it is with two separate cards but it's all selling out so it's still good.

The 56 when it finally arrives deserves to sell well for gaming and value reasons.

64 is selling for the wrong reasons but 100% certain AMD couldn't care less, they know fine well how it matches up which is why they want to shunt publicity to the 56.

It's frustrating that after over a year all Amd can do is produce a good 1070 competitor and an overpriced 1080 competitor.

I know it's all been said before but the situation isn't that great. Freesync is it's only saving grace. I have been wanting a reason to buy Amd again since my 7970s but they are still short of the mark.

In December I bought a Gtx 1080 with water block from someone for £495. Last month I bought a Gtx 1080 strix for a second PC from a rainforest site for £408. The fact they are still better than competition at this stage is annoying.

You certainly are reaching with that comment, they are 30% the high end card(1080ti) and we know that because Vega 64 is only a match for the year old 1080 which is 30% behind the Ti.

It is nice AMD have managed to produce a decent card but I think many including those ATI/AMD would struggle to get too excited about the first Vegas out the door.

Nope...

More expensive
Less performance
Hotter
Louder
More expensive to run.

There are no redeeming features to make it a worthwhile recommendation over the existing competition.

Is your life so hollow, sad and meaningless that you incessantly need to troll AMD threads pouring your views and opinions of scorn on the products to any prospective buyers?

We get it you have a low opinion of AMD products, do the right thing now, move on instead of force feeding your view on everyone.

Seriously you may want to consider counselling over your behaviour it's just not healthy :(

You certainly are selectively quoting me.

Quote the rest of it and then see if your post makes any sense.

I've read the whole thing too, I agree with you that the 56 is a very attractive option, but your implication that the 64 has 'performance to compete at the top end' is off. It's nowhere near 1080ti/titan xp level yet has higher power draw.

A large part of forum discussion boards is centered on criticism which is well within the rules, you are free to click on profile names > ignore if you don't like it.

A small handful of posts isnt incessant. Can you point out where any of his points are wrong? Otherwiee its not trolling its just a valid response to the topic at hand.
