Poll: The Vega Review Thread.

What do we think about Vega?

  • What has AMD been doing for the past 1-2 years?

  • It consumes how many watts and is how loud!!!

  • It is not that bad.

  • Want to buy but put off by pricing and warranty.

  • I will be buying one for sure (I own a Freesync monitor so have little choice).

  • Better red than dead.

Well amd can ask to exclude what they want, doesnt mean you have to and spreadsheets are fun, and its a bit hard to swallow that you dont want amd stuff so you arnt under a noose yet be sponsored by nvidia.

ow and lets not forget, hes not saying dont buy vega at the inflated cost, hes saying do not buy radeon, and he isnt sure todo his threadripper build but intel are just as bad, intel, the company who have still not paid there fines placed on them by the eu and us federal courts (seperate fines), let that sink in.

If he's thinking about not doing a threadripper build, then that goes way beyond his usual bias.
Not doing a threadripper build because of this blip with pricing over RXVega is somewhat childish, the two products have nothing to do with each other (except from same firm).

But then his whole "Don't buy radeon" instead of "Perhaps don't buy RXVega" shows his knee jerk reaction, perhaps he'll change or rephrase it once/if he does a clip about it.

Well follow his twitter tirade, to me that looks calculated and remember what he was like with mayhems.

Thanks, checked it out.
Oddly, a quote from him at 9:37

"I would never tell a person not to buy something, er, because I always feel the decision choice is yours to determine..." :p

ye an i mean even his deadline thing is off, its not a deadline; its when the embargo ends, wendell was fine not hitting the release date, tinytomlogan is fine with it, plenty of other reviewers took the weekend off because there fans are happy with them making a good review that has good standards even if its later then other peoples. the people who will rush a review out over the weekend arnt doing it for quality or there fans, there doing it for maximum exposure for maximum hits for maximum cash.

And i mean even on the pricing, amd arnt exactly lying when they say they dont fully control pricing, aibs are gonna have a hand in it, ocuk is currently the cheapest retailer of vega so wahoo ocuk. Thats not gonna be the same across the world as retailers take advantage of the story that originated from gibbos statement and has been warped into a monster by the press.

the issue was having a gun to your head to get the £100 discount, skim review or lose price

I am ordering the R56 come what may, if it sucks then RMA time, will cost the retailers more in the end

ye the early price was cheap, but it only lasted an hour an a bit, but we have news outlets sayin it lasted 20 mins. Amd should have been upfront about that, they should if anything make a video themsleves explaining whats happening but its no damn reason to boycott amd.

Some may see it as splitting hairs but there can be a difference between not recommending something, and telling people not to buy it. You can probably think of many examples where you've seen something recommended which you wouldn't recommend, and you haven't told them not to buy it, unless you know it just isn't compatible or something.

At the end of the day, what Jay is doing amounts to banging a drum excessively, to wake AMD up. Some aren't happy with AMD's deception nor their handling of it, and feel that putting pressure on them to either rectify the situation, or never repeat it again, is worthwhile. Even if it is a first-world cause. And then they kiss and make up and are best friends again. Puts the drum away, and says nice things about AMD again. That's how it works.

To put it another way - you can continuously say nice things about a person to their own detriment. Same goes for companies. Some deserved criticism can often help more and keep you honest and respectable. This often makes me think of the UK and USA. You wonder if the UK (state-wise) has really been a good friend to the US in going along with everything, always. Sometimes it feels like Russia is a better friend, ironically, standing up to them and telling them some truths about their actions and hypocrisy.

Jay is full of it.
Starts with his unboxing of threadripper review sample, where he threw on the floor coolermaster aio saying he boycotts coolermaster , and before that he gave si et to nvidia for not giving him 2 free titans for ted Cruise building , non he wants to boycott amd.
That kind of Guy Will Never buy his on samples, at least not for long.
