How come no keynote #3 yet, 1+2 was out same night, let alone next day.
;)

Keynotes only on day 1 and day 2.

Have you watched the other key featured presentations from day 1?

8 traits of great Metro style apps - Jensen Harris
Platform for Metro style apps - Aleš Holeček, John Sheehan
Tools for building Metro style apps - Chris Sells, Kieran Mockford

The people who are moaning about W8 are the one's who haven't figured out how to use the new interface properly .... yet :D

Once the W8 public beta is out, W7 is getting dumped.

Interesting.

I'm also interested in the possibility of your settings being connected to your live account. Hopefully that means you can just log into any W8 computer with that and have it look exactly like your one at home, including bookmarks and program preferences. If that is the case that alongside skydrive or another cloud service (imported too, with MS just recently saying unlimited space for documents and a few other things on the skydive account and 25GB for music and video files) holding your documents means you could do basic work anywhere so easily.

Obviously larger programs wouldn't be able to be imported but as most machines have office and the other more generic programs it shouldn't matter too much.

Unfortunately that doesn;t support all resolutions, e.g. my laptop is 1280x800, closest I can get is is 1024x768.

I run Windows 8 under VirtualBox in fullscreen mode and it runs at 1366 x 768 resolution on my laptop monitor or 1920 x 1200 resolution on my main monitor fine.

It is important to note that the virtual machine has to be spun up on the monitor you will be using in order for it to correctly detect the right resolution. i.e. I can't run the VM on my 1366 x 768 monitor resolution and then drag the VM over to the 1920 x 1200 screen and expect the screen to resize... it requires a restart of the VM unfortunately. :(

Edit: Added some more replies.

OUSH - Windows 8 is ugly, Microsoft think that people will be going all in one touch pc's at home. Its basically a pc version of a phone OS. It looks horrible. Perhaps it might be quicker to find things, but I don't have an issue with short cuts? ...

You can (currently) get the classic start menu back and "disable much of the Metro functionality".

TBH lack of flash isn't a big problem for me, can't be too long before chrome and firefox are both on metro, with flash. And with windows being open, theres nothing microsoft can do about this.

Metro apps run in a special application container, which I don't think will allow plugins like Flash or Silverlight. Also, it is possible that Microsoft will only allow Metro apps from the Windows App Store. If that is the case, they could block Firefox or Chrome from the store if they somehow allow Flash or Silverlight.
