***The Wine Thread***

Drank more Italian wine in 2 weeks than I had done in my life before, but I feel I have a much better appreciation of it now and would be a lot happier choosing an Italian wine in the supermarket where I would have gone with one of my 'safe' options in the past.

Vivino offered me the 2016 Purple Angel reduced from £54.99 to £43.95! The outstanding 2015 was only £25-ish when I first got into it. Demand must be sky-high. Part of me wishes I'd held on rather than enjoy them. Maybe 5% of me, anyway :p

It's bloody hard to get at the moment I've found. I paid about 30 per bottle of my 2015 and still have 2 left, mainly as I can't bring myself to drink it as it's about 60 to replace now lol

Must look to get more of this, I still have a couple of the 2013 which I'm keeping for a while longer.

Want a laugh? A mate of mine from work who actually intro'd me to Purple Angel had one bottle of 2010 left. It's like hens teeth to find, so hard! He was out for a few beers at a work do, got back in and his wife had opened it and had a glass and just left it on the side. Said she didn't like it. So he ended up drinking it, but on a random week day after several beers and didn't appreciate it at all. He was so annoyed.

This is why my wife messages me and asks which bottle she should open first :D

 :D. Good job most of my wine, including this one, is stored elsewhere, but I know my wife wouldn't just open any bottle anyway :).

Birthday so Sunday with a bottle of Chateau Trapaud 2016. Good taste for the price although at 14.5% steady as she goes!

Also got a bottle Ch. Haute Graves 2015 & Ch. Despagnet 2017.

All not stupid prices, I hope the other two will be as smooth as the Trapaud.

I had a bottle of Soraie last week. Not bad at all. Nice and soft.

I visited them earlier this year, was great.

Going shopping today, will probably get a couple more bottles but I’m attempting to cycle and drink the bottles but reduce to a more manageable number.

Added a few bottles to the St. Emilion and Pomerol I have:

Ch, Teyssier, Puisseguin St Emillion, 2015
Ch. Graulet, Baye Cote du Bordeaux, 2016
Ch. Pay la Tour, Bordeaux, 2016
Mason Ginestet, Margaux, 2015
Les Vallons dr la Solitude, Ch.neuf du Pape, 2017.

Most in the 5-9 euro range except the CdP.
