***The Wine Thread***

I can see why you guys are a fan of the '62!

Had the San Domino on Friday night. It was alright, but a little fruitier than i'd have liked. Was planning on saving the '62 for a while, but then Saturday we'd spent the day painting. Had tea then sat to a film and i thought sod it.

Only problem with being impulsive is that it seemed to really need some time to breathe, so poured the first glass and then sat there for 20 minutes with it taunting me before drinking it.

Also christ is that bottle heavy!

Heads up but Waitrose are doing 25% off 6 bottles like most supermarkets but they included Gosset.

I’m sure that’s not usually included and brings it down to £37.50 for the Reserve which is a bloody bargain!

It's a good drop and the price is decent. With the lack of weddings, events, etc. I would expect to see some serious discounting on champagne going into Christmas. There's a lot of unsold stock sitting about.

I hope you’re right!

last week I had a lovely Son Prim Cabernet Sauvignon 2017. Really nice, would recommend.

Our favourite 'every day' Red is a Dark Horse Cab Sav... not sure what others think about this wine? Maybe we have a long journey ahead of us, but personally feel it can't be beaten for the value and holds its own very well against wines double the price!

Not tried it, where can you get it from?

Oh, if you are near an Aldi try their Chianti Classico 2015 for £6.49, it's a stonker. It has a Black **** on the side, so it's genuine, and 2015 was Chianti's annus mirabilis.

Now that would be something. It is hands down the best Champagne I've ever had, and 8 bottles of it would be amazing. Not sure the wife would agree to 7.5k on it though :P

It's a weird one this year, I think as we can't have parents over from the UK we *might* be having Christmas dinner at ours with very good friends (if restrictions are lifted enough, just a couple and their two kids). They suggested starting a Christmas kitty... I know they dont earn as much as we do and never spend much on wine but it's Christmas! So I have to try and do wine without coming across like a dick at the same time :P Yes, I know, that'll be hard.

Today is Beaujolais Nouveau day! Anyone got any coming?

No.

Might have a Beaujolais though.

@randomshenans I've got a mag of 02 waiting another 10 or so years before I'll touch it. If you want any info on the 08 down the line then I think you have my email somewhere, it isn't (quite) that expensive.

I know it's not for everyone. I have a case coming from the same producer I had last year, found it quite pleasant for £11/bottle.

Would be interested in learning more about the champagne though ;)

I might have to email you anyway. I'm mulling over ideas for a pivot of our private jet/luxury travel app and thinking about going down the exclusive luxury market route. I have connections across many different virtuals from private islands, super car rentals, US vineyards, events etc. trying to hash out some plans for bringing these opportunities to people.

That and I always want 08 Salon :P
