***The Wine Thread***

@Martynt74 Get yourself to Booths (Fulwood or Penwortham) and in the red wine Italy section, find the Palladino Biferno Rosso. At our Booths we have the 2016 and it is £8 a pop. I know you said the missus likes a less meaty red wine but pinot noir is too light. This is your baby, at 13%. And it is such good value. In fact, get two because it is so quaffable. Open it an hour or two before drinking (in a carafe or decanter if poss) and it will be delish. The missus will love you.

EDIT: I think I recommended this about four years ago but it just popped up again in our Booths.

Finally got around to buying this. I was up at Windermere paddleboarding so popped into the Bowness store.

Sadly no carafe but i made sure i opened it in advance. I'm with you, it's a cracking wine. Still a little lighter than we'd normally like but great flavours and incredibly enjoyable. Would imagine it's perfect sat outside somewhere in the Sun in Italy!

Also picked up a bottle of their Cremant di Limoux which was very good at £15

Only recently started enjoying wines, are there any good websites for ordering that isn't silly expensive but still some good quality stuff.

Quiet you, i've been trying to avoid adding that into the weekly shop!

Has anyone seen the Vivino wine club? I got some introductory offer which seemed a great deal.

Checking waitrosecellar and a lot of wines sold out, I've placed a small order

Dammit - Reminded myself about the Vivino wine club with that post and just signed up :/

Hadn't heard of it but 50% off the first box looks decent if you like the wines.

Yeah, my box had a few decent looking Primitivo and Appasimentinos in. I quite like they tailor it to your Vivino ratings and allow you to be quite specific with region/grape types.

I feel like we're having to make up for @randomshenans and @Tuppy_Glossop who usually fulfil my wine purchasing needs!

On top of my standard plonk I've bought a couple of bits in the past week or so that are quite fun:
CVNE Gran Reserva 2015 Double Magnum
Produttori del Barbaresco, Barbaresco 2018 Double Magnum
Should do nicely for a couple of parties in 5-10 years' time.

Do you store them in bond?

Remembering why i stopped buying wine in bulk! Willpower is not strong enough to resist wine.

As part of trying to be healthier we've limited ourselves to just ordering one bottle a week in our weekly grocery delivery. It works well enough since it's delivered on a Saturday. However this delivery came on Friday so it felt rude not to open a bottle to test it out. Then my mother in law came for tea last night so again it felt rude not to open some.

We're now down to 9 from 12, and were out on Saturday night as well!

Plus side is that the 2 we've tried so far have been very decent :)
