***The Wine Thread***

Good man! Let me check out those Vivino links later when I get a sec.

They're amazing. For 11 euros it's just utterly fantastic. Such a great wine. I ordered another 6, thinking I should get another lot.

EDIT: I looked now lol they look stunning! I W/L'd the last one as VFM vs Rating looks top and the sort of thing I'd love. Saying that the others look amazing. You'll have fun.

Full bodied, deep purple in appearance, you can tell it's come from a sunnier climate from it's bold full flavour. Bags of body, with a well rounded finish to the palate and no harsh tannins. With any wine, allow it an hour to open up once the bottle is opened, but even if you don't, it's not as impactful as you'd get with a Bordeaux for example. The 2010 and 2012 vintages were utterly superb, but in very short supply now if you can find them. The 2013 is also very very good, in fact I have a bottle at home myself.
A spicy, complex and well balanced red that you can enjoy with meat, or sitting in your pants on the sofa. Either way, you'll enjoy it.

Better?

Got a case of 6 of these arrive yesterday too. It's one I've previously mentioned and I just think it's utterly superb for the price I paid.

11 euros, and it's just such a full flavoured, big character and complexity wine for the money. It's big, but not so heavy you couldn't open a second. It definitely improves when open about an hour, really starts to give some amazing notes.

If you can get it under 15quid, I'd really give it a try if you're in to a bold big red.

I've had some utterly cracking wine lately but not much of it (being good and all that.) but today I took delivery of a Primitivo that I was going to buy anyway, but the place I got it from had it on offer and emailed me a non internet price. Yes! Picked it up for 17.50 a bottle instead of 25. It is...

Just opened it early and having a bottle now, it's a bloody amazingly nice wine. So good. I'm going to order another 6 haha

To be honest, I am not a fan of Pinot Noir or the Alsatian whites... I've had a very nice couple of Gris's with Foie Gras, or with accompanying food and they're nice, but not a wine I'd buy to drink otherwise. Bad since I live here, but I make up for it with the amount of cremant I consume.

I was going to post that. I do like the way Madeline (Wine Folly) presents her wine knowledge and info. I have her book which is a handy wine companion :).

Aglianico isn't a grape I'm particularly familiar with. If I can't find that in the UK, I'll certainly look at getting something similar to try.

They have a "gold" version of this as well, which I happened to get an email about the day after drinking the above one. I should have 12 waiting for me in the post office.

I took delivery of a case yesterday. Unfortunately, the packaging broke in transit and only 10 bottles arrived intact. Uvinum are sorting out a partial refund for me. I opened a bottle today, and despite initially being below temperature it was very quaffable. Very quaffable indeed, in fact.

What a pain! Glad you liked it, I hate recommending things as sometimes it's just not what the person likes. I like big reds and I cannot lie. :p
