***The Wine Thread***

I opened my magnum of 1966 Barolo today. Very nice it was too. Very different in taste from a young wine: much less foretaste and much more aftertaste.
 
I've had some utterly cracking wine lately but not much of it (being good and all that.) but today I took delivery of a Primitivo that I was going to buy anyway, but the place I got it from had it on offer and emailed me a non internet price. Just opened it early and having a bottle now, it's a bloody amazingly nice wine. So good. I'm going to order another 6 haha
 
Suggestions for food to go with Canadian ice wine, please! I've got a half bottle and no one else seems interested in drinking it. I've read that cheeses are good, but which ones?
 
Since you're in Alsace, are Andre Blanck's wines still as good as they used to be? I visited him about 30 years ago and started buying annually, but stopped about a decade ago. I particularly liked the Pinot Noir with lamb - so light it was almost a rose - and his Pinot Blanc was delicious.
 
To be honest, I am not a fan of Pinot Noir or the Alsatian whites... I've had a very nice couple of Gris's with Foie Gras, or with accompanying food and they're nice, but not a wine I'd buy to drink otherwise. Bad since I live here, but I make up for it with the amount of cremant I consume.
 
Im a complete newbie to wines but taken a particular shine to anything Gewurztraminer over the festive period.

Not sure if this is a long shot but can anyone recommend me anything similar to a Gewurz to try? I think I like it as its got a bit of a sweetness to it whilst not being an overpowering, sweet, dessert wine. Easily quoffable.
