The Wire appreciation thread

omar is pretty much my favourite character in anything ever, only randy marsh from south park could come close :p . all the characters in the wire are great though. even the ones who dont play massive parts. clay davis anyone ? :D

I laughed my ass off at Wednesday night's episode when Clay got subpoena'd. His "sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit" was about 2 seconds too long not to be funny!

Highlight of the whole show so far for me was the penultimate episode of S3. Has to be one of the best 60mins of TV I have ever seen, just so brilliantly shot & written.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Can't believe I hadn't heard of it before now.

I'll get right on it as soon as I finish Seasons 1, 2 and 3 of the epic, epic Dexter.

Yeah, i thought The Corner was excellent. Not quite as good as The Wire, and only 6 episodes long but still well worth watching. If only to see half the actors who play cops in The Wire playing drug addicts in The Corner. :D

Thats the best scene in the series, the different ways you use a single word, the meaning and the tone, they did that scene absolutely perfectly right there.

Nah, Snoop buying the nail gun! That scene is genius. Or perhaps Bunk setting fire to his own clothes in that womans bath tub! :D Oh there's so many....

Just crammed in 5 seasons - Wow! has kept me hooked and all other things i have had to do have been left behind! Lol i just found out snoop was a girl, didnt really know till the end of the season - but she scares the sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit out of me!

A shame it had to end, but i guess all good things have to. A fantastic series - so realistic and grimey, you will be hard pressed to find anything that will beat it.

And best character is Stringer Bell - 'Aiiighht'

My favourite character was Bodie. Although I really didn't like a lot or most of the characters, which is really weird I know... I really didn't like the police and politicians. I tended also not to really like the crooks, but I found them and their plots infinitely more interesting.

I think the cast was great and the whole execution of the show was excellent.
EDIT:

I thought there was perhaps a bit too much swearing to give it universal age group appeal.

Also I always laughed when Senator Clay Davis was on the case:
s*****************************************************t ahahaha :)

Coming to the end of season one and I think this is up there with Band of Brothers for the best HBO series I have watched. Takes a few episodes to get going but it is damn good.

Another here who didn't realise snoop was a girl straight away...to be honest, i've got male friends i'd probably rather bang that nasty little skank hoodrat ;)

Disclaimer: I wouldn't actually bang a guy, just getting my point across!

Yeah, i thought The Corner was excellent.

Just watched the first episode. Man, that is some depressing sheeeeeeeeeee. :(

Hard to believe that people live like that. In a "rich" country, of all places.

Racist! :p

I've seen the whole of the wire series, and hold it as probably the best tv series I've ever seen. I remember watching the first episode and finding it hard work but by the end of the second and third episodes I was hooked.

I definatly agree that one of the funniest scenes was when snoop bought the nail gun in that store, classic. I'm really glad that the BBC descided to pick the show up, it definatly deserves it.

I gotta say my best character has to be omar and bubbles.
