Thats Cat, you can see in the dark. You can either wait for it or meditate for a few hours so it wears off.

You must've drank Cat, you'll need to wait the 5 minutes for it to run out.

I find rook and swallow good for me, rook gives more damage in melee combat and swallow boosts my vitality regen. Although I tend not to actully need potions unless I know I'm going up against something tough.

As for leveling up, its slow, very slow. Quests will be by far the main way you will level up as general killing stuff seems to give very little.

ye i drank cat which are the best potions to use?? and how do i level up, im killing enemys but im still rank 1

You only really level up by doing quests, killing enemies doesn't give a whole lot of xp. Potions I go for are Rook and Swallow, for damage and vitality regen respectively.

Finally finished it, i dont think i left a single thing alive :) took the swordsmans path. tomorow ill do it again with the different choices and go full mage to see if thats any good.

oh almost forgot. did any of you actually use or ge to use the mutagens? i had tons of them but couldnt find how to use them despite the game telling me :/ must be missing something.

I havn't used any myself, but then again I only have the 1 ability from the training tree capable of it as I'm still on chapter 1. The way I understand that you use them is you meditate, go into the character skills section, select a skill capable of using a mutagen (each tree has 2 near the end, and 1 in the training tree) and you should be able to select a mutagen to use. Keep in mind that using a mutagen is permenant! so do NOT use a lesser mutagen or it will be a waste, save the mutagen slots for greater mutagens. Also there is an alchemy skill that greatly increases the effect of mutagens (it says 15% and 35% but a guide I read says the effect is almost double at level 2) but it only improves mutagens that you havn't used yet, a mutagen already placed in a skill will not be improved if you placed it before getting the improvement skill.

ninja edit: beaten to it.

Anyway, explained in more detail here

I personally don't really like the way they've done it, it's not as though you're mutating the skill/ability because the mutagen effects aren't related to the skill/ability in any way.

Just a way to limit the number of mutagens you can apply I suppose.

It does a bit of a bad job explaining it all in the manual. Basically to apply them you need to meditate, go into the character abilities screen and look at some of the skills in your skill paths. The ones at the end of each skill path have a little circle in them, much like how certain weapons have the little circle which tells you they can be enchanted, If you click on those skills you should be able to apply a mutagen by pressing enter. So for example I have a free slot on my Fortitude skill in the training path which I could mutate.

Edit: Damn beaten to it!

I really wish I hadn't installed the patch. My game was very smooth and I had no problems with it - now I'm suffering horrible stutter, brightness issues, and voices occasionally don't work.

To be fair some of them are incredibly good, Greater Crit Effects mutagen with Impregnation = +6% to everything + fire runes means constant incinerates.

I'm about half way into chapter 2 now I think, rocking a robust yellow meteorite sword and sword of dun banner, upgraded Kayran armor but have a set of Ban Ard and Lock Moine armor, need to decide which to use as both have some sort of loss compared to Kayran but both have a tonne more armor.

My spec so far is Sword/Alchemy, alchemy mostly for Impregnation and increased oil/potion times/effects, not bothering with the berserk stuff just yet as I want to max out some sword skills, finishers are beastly.

In the launcher suggest you recheck gfx and sound settings, you may find they were altered by the patch
I reset mine and it plays very nicely

I reset mine too and it didn't help. The stutter is the main problem. I've gone from a smooth 40 FPS to a stuttery 50 FPS which feels much worse. Lots of people are complaining about this on other forums too.

Just finsihed it have to say great game shame on how short the last chapter was but it was good fun there deffo gonna be a addon or two for this
anyone wanting to see some screens check the hi-res thread i posted a load :)
