The Witcher 2 - Thread

Im having a problem where part of the audio cuts out (music and some of the dialogue). Anyone having similar problems? on a creative xfi audio and 5.1 speakers

The lighting and weather changes when you walk through doors in this game are really jarring, makes it seem a bit amateur.

I was walking in the forest, pouring with rain...walked through the door into the town and suddenly it was a sunny evening

finally finished on hard I won't post any spoilers but I'll give some of my thoughts

game felt shorter then the first
combat could do with a bit of tweaking still
the epilogue didn't really wrap the story up for you like in the first it just ends
the story didn't have as much variation compared to the first
didn't quite portray the scope of their story elements unlike dragon age origins with dark spawn etc

for sure a 9/10 game but personally I liked the first just a bit more :)

Does anybody else's HDD thrash like mad for ~5 seconds when opening the menu to access the journal/inventory/map? During this time the game is completely frozen, but the audio still plays normally.

I'm thinking it's due to the number of saves it's parsing or something. Maybe if I could clear that cache it'd stop from happening.

Yeah it is loading all savegames. It is annoying. Every 15 hours or so I cleaned up savegame folder (just moved files to another folder) to get rid of it = no problem.

Because there isn't many loading screens in this game it has to load all the time and this can thrash a hard drive. If you have a slow HDD it would be expected and apparently the game stutters really bad if you use an IDE HDD.

So yeah it's normal.

1TB SATA 7200rpm, standard affair.

If the problem is with the saves it doesn't sound normal, given that I'm not attempting to access them only opening the menu. Even then they should patch this so it only parses the last 10 saves instead of all of them (which currently stands at 1.92gb).

Just started chapter 2 and some of the sound effects seem to have disappeared, only getting weapon clashes and voices, spells and environment are completely silent  wish they had put a bit more into quality control with this game :(

if you have been playing it for a long time just restart the game or quit to menu always worked for me when the music and half the sounds vanished
