Finally got to play a few good hours of this game and there has not been one aprt that I have not gone WOW!

Here is a couple of screenies at full everything without ubersampling:

The atmosphere from the aesthetics and the music/sound is amazing! Dialogue is awesome and the story is really good. I have had no regrets buying this game at all and I have found a new love for RPG's.

If you have not got this game then do get it!

Interesting how people finish in 20 hours...

I am playing since tuesday and still in chapter 1, and I assume I already spent like 15 hours in the game.

Garee, thanks a lot for the info.
I wonder if it could be playable @1680x1050 with Uber on your config as I want to get a similar one.
Maybe they will also optimise the code a bit so it will be... would be fantastic.

They did say that it was shorter than the first game though. I am currently 55 hours in to The Witcher, near the end of Chapter 4.

I am wondering about this ubersampling with V-ram, I have crossfire 5850's which should max it at 1080, but its the 1gb memory that might affect it. What do you think?

I do like how when you are asked to do certain things and fail them it just carries on and you go with whatever consequences arise. You never are sure if it was supposed to have happened or not but its very fluid and I like it.

Theres no way you can do this game in 20 hours unless you do the main story and the main story alone. I've read others have spent over 40 hours on it.

Any video reviews around?

I am enjoying it, just some of the quests are really tedious - sort of MMO like, go here, kill x number of these guys, go to the next place etc etc.

The thing is though, a Witcher by trade is a monster hunter. Makes sense for him to go kill monsters for orens. Thats what he does.

Anyone else get confused what sword you're using? I really hate how we have a sword for non-humans and a sword for humans. Why can't we just have one that works on both? Don't understand this part. Would also love for more weapons apart from swords... and a shield.

You can on 'easy'. It took me 24 hours on normal and I by no means rushed anything.

Silver swords are more effective. Steel swords still work :)

Holy smokes combat is so much more difficult now. They keep interrupting me! I have died three times trying to get to the Balista at the very beginning!

The key is dodging and getting behind them as they go to attack you. You then have a clear shot of thier backs.

The combat does take some getting used to and is fine once you do but its not very witchery... Its basically run and roll and stab em in the back. Would have liked to have been able to do some decent sword play with some fluidity to it all. Geralt the master swordsman has as much finesse with a blade as barry the plumber from down the road.

Yeah. I must admit I was a little disappointed to see they removed the stances that were in Witcher 1. I thought they worked well and added a bit of depth to the combat system, although granted I hated the "stare at the screen and wait for the symbol" combat. Witcher 2 combat with stances I would have liked a lot more.
