The Witcher 2 - Thread

If you preordered on GOG.com, do you have to then purchase it aswell now?

It's been so long since I preordered it I honestly cant remember if there was a price on the preorder or not :S

Does anyone know the answer to this question?

I feel pretty stupid having to ask it but like I said it's been so long and im not sure if you can download it straight from a preorder or if you now have to purchase it to download.

Thanks in advance.

I'll just keep my boxed edition preorder, I didnt get a reply from GoG about the free game, and I already have Gothic 2 which is the only game I would have wanted on the list.

I like my printed manuals, guide and world maps too much for a game like this, it must be boxed!

Usually if u have pre-ordered the moneis will be taking out of your account/card when its released, some comapines will take the money as soon as you have pre ordered not sure on GoG, but you wont need to purchase it again.

Had my copy pre-ordered on Play for the magical suit but only realised now Amazon had the Swordfighters suit which would suit me more, but ah well the suit will probally only last the first few levels untill better armor comes along.

Really looking forward to playing this though, and have to have a boxed copy for games like this :)

I have it preordered on steam, have done for since it went up. All these extras can probably be attained in someway or wont affect the game much, at least I hope they wont.
Edit

looking at the gog stuff it is very tempting to have ordered it there but I've gotten used to the steam download and play system now. I hate having games from different sources, I already experience that with EA.

I am a bit dissapointed the dlc stuff is only with the collectors edition, Id expect it to come with the "premium" edition too... Ah well.

Played the original last night after spending an age trying to get the thing patched and working (boxed copy so verrrry slow downloads, and it wouldn't run until the copy protection had been patched out).

And I hated the combat. Now I'm sure I liked it when I first played the game so god knows why I've changed my mind inbetween. Still going to give it a go though if I'm more in the mood tonight, might have to go more magic since the swordplay winds me up ;)

Any idea whether it's a similar combat system in Witcher 2?

For £3 you can get it through gog.com and dispense with the need to patch on re-install.

Im reading that there are modified versions now... anyone know if the game is censored on steam uk?

Only the Australian version of the game is slightly edited. Lol Australians.

"containing additional finishing move animations and additional advanced fighting techniques"

Well that sounds a little more significant than a piece of armour.

Those two animations (iirc) were initially cut from the game so wouldn't make it in the final game anyway. Other packs are just additional items that are going to encourage some people to buy in retail rather than digital download.

Ah nice, I'll check that out when I'm home from work. And lol at the Frenzied fapping ;)

To be honest, it's only this thread that's made me want to play Witcher2, and I'm trying to talk myself out of it by remembering why I didn't finish the original ;) £3's a bargain though, and if I ever want to play it again after an unistall, I'll just do that!

just visited their site and says they are working on a new website to be unveiled on Friday 13th (Yep they said so too) these people are like machines thought the current website is relativity new....

Gog.com have ditched geo-ip location determination though so if the Australians wanted to they could claim they were from America and buy the game at $50 and get it in it's completely uncut release.

Of course the good people at gog have done this because geo-ip can cause problems for their customers and they trust us to tell the truth about our location, in no way did it have anything to do with allowing customers from around the world *cough*Australia*cough* access to the full, unrestricted game.

which is reason #347 why GOG is the best gaming shop ever.
