The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Emperors new clothes

You are totally entitled to your views, but equally we are entitled to ask you to explain them.

You've posted twice slating the game. Perhaps you'd care to explain why ?

Or - if easier - give examples of games you feel meet your standards so that we can compare.

Personally, I think your interests are more in trolling than actually having any further discussion.

just about to start this, what do you guys think i should start the difficulty setting as? also do you find it best with mouse and keyboard or xbox pad?

Depends waht you used to I guess. Personally always used mouse and keyboard so would do even worse with a pad. :p

As to the setting, start at normal, if to easy just crank it up. That's what I did anyway, mostly because not to good at these kind of games when come to fighting. :o:p

Oh really? How would that auto catch up system work for story choices etc?

Expansion is very selfcontained, it can be played before the end, after the end or standalone from the menu.
If played with existing save, there are few dialogues that are reflected in the main game, which is cool.

I guess it depends what difficulty you often use. I wouldn't call myself good at games but went with death march, found it really hard initially but as the game went much less so.

Keyboard and Mouse for me, but again depends on how much you like controllers I guess.

I'm still trundling through this, just finished the side quest called Posession in Skellige.

My GOD what a little story, SO GOOD!!!!

I did NOT expect her to ask me to throw the baby in to burn and when I did, I was seriously worried I had actually just threw his son in the bun!

Hi. Sorry if this has been covered, but I've just got the game and I appear to have a bug. Would be super grateful if someone can help!

Just got to the point where Geralt meets Yennefer for the first time. When I go to the palace doors I have to fast travel somewhere. If I fast travel to Velen, I can't move anywhere, unless I dismount and walk. If I do so, I get to the Inn I'm supposed to go to, and get stuck at the door. By stuck, I mean, I can't move at all in any direction, although the character animations still work.

If I fast travel to another location, I can till move freely. Anyone heard or seen this bug?

Thanks!

Nope, but just walk it?

Don't rely on fast travel in this game. You'll miss so much content otherwise. I only ever use it if my current quest spans a HUGE distance. ie from Skellige to Novigrad.

Cheers for the reply. I appreciate that, I'm probably just used to slogging it out in Skyrim back and forth. That said, surely there's something wrong here?

Okaaaay....

I'm trying to travel on horseback from White Orchard to Vizima, but I'm getting a message about 'the end of the world' and 'devils' or something. How do I even get to Velen on foot/horse?

The game is very easy on normal, I'd recommend Blood and Broken Bones to start with.

I started on normal level, it looks like i can change to Blood and Broken Bones at any time is that correct ? only played game so far for like a hour, also what does the levels of difficulty add to game, like harder bosses etc ? cheers

Spent an hour or so running through the forrest collecting honey to sell to the herbalist for £7 a pop to buy the badass Temerian armour .

Playing on normal and finding it just about right at the moment. Still getting to grips with the combat, but find with large packs of wolves its impossible to not get hit. I dodge and roll and try to parry etc, but still end up getting attacked from all angles and get hit a few times, which is annoying. Once I get better I might up the difficulty, but with games like this I prefer the exploration and story to the combat anyway.

Also trying to get into the Gwent game, but keep getting owned by everyone I play. Lowered the difficulty to easy, which didnt make much difference. I take it I need to buy more cards from traders?

You can't move from White Orchard to Vizima by any other means then fast travel. Have you been there yet to continue the quest ? If not you have to progress the quest at White Orchard until it takes you there. After you been in Vizima and finished there, you will then be moved to Valen. After that been done you can fast travel back to White Orchard or Vizima if you so wish from any sign post in Valen, using the fast travel system.

Use Fire to control large groups with wolf, works well for me anyway, then just kill them off.

As for Gwent. Yes, buy cards from anyone that sells them, that way you slowly building up your deck and manage to beat them easier. If you still at White Orchard, buy the cards from the Lady at the Bar or the trader you rescued if you done that part yet, he be standing down at the sign post if you saved him. If you already past White Orchard, you can use fast travel and go back and buy from the trader, if you saved said trader that is.

Thanks for the tips TheSwede, using fire against big groups of animals and humans seems to work brilliantly!

Also getting a lot better at Gwent now I have won a few matches and got better cards. Managed to get a hero card from a wining a game. It's actually really fun playing gwent and collecting the cards. I used to play top trumps as a kid with some ork and goblin cards, so think this is taking me back to that.

This game is huge! I'm in Velen at the moment and the sheer number of question marks on the screen is a bit overwhelming. I'm just tending to do a few every time I am nearby doing a main quest or a witcher contract. Ideally I'd like to do everything in this game, just taking my time and exploring, rather than rushing through the main questline.

I wouldn't go crazy trying to do everything, annoyingly if you do you will over level for the main quests. I'd say by all means do quite a few side quests, but personally I wouldn't try to check out every question mark.

Ahh, i did wonder about that. I just dont want to miss any oil recipes or cool armour pieces.

I have a bit of room to play with as its on normal difficulty at the moment, so can always turn it up a bit if I need to.
