The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Havent played the addon yet, but its been ages since i finished the main game and kind of feel the need to restart? Or maybe use the premade dlc character option? With that though, can i then go back into the main game with that character?

Nope if you select just the Hearts and Stone route its the DLC main quest only, main game quest is locked off. You start off at level 32, with upgraded gear and the ability points ready to distribute and some gold.

You can however do all the side quests such as those found on notice boards, or exclamation marks throughout the world.

I think buying the cards standalone was only for a limited time, it was still more cost effective back then to buy a retail copy and sell the code as you didn't have to pay international shipping importing the card from Jinx

Yep it was for a limited time just before the hearts of stone release, so figureed they may do the same before the blood and wine release for those cards. Though as you say, probably the more expensive option, but I cba to sell on the PS4 key.

Thanks! Not sure what to do, may just restart the main game or just do so to relearn the games systems and pick my save back up

My game appears to be broke, keeps saying "cannot load missing Hairstyle & Beard add-on" (give or take)

haven't changed anything, have removed and added it again, still nothing. Uninstalled game and still nothing. Anyone else seen this? as atm I cant load a single save game :(

Using GOG Galaxy? Maybe you need to set the DLCs to be active again. Click the link to the right of where it says "Installed" and the game version. Should be some check boxes. The beards and hairstyles were included in the free DLC program I think.

Im through steam not GoG

Oh ok.

Only thing i can think of but which u probably tried already is to verify the cache of the games files through steam so all files defo are there and correct.

yeah done that, keeps saying cant validate 1, then goes off to find it etc.

Okay, so having played this game for over 100 hours and having absolutely loved it over the Christmas period I thought I'd get the Hearts of Stone DLC as I have a few days free with my wife away, but...

I find I still have six ability points unspent from my first playthrough and given the limited number of skills we can have active I don't see any use for any more. Does this mean it's pointless to level up any more? What's the point in just accumulating skill points I can't use? Am I missing something or have I forgotten something? At the moment as good as it feels to be back in the witcher world it also feels a bit pointless if I can't improve my Geralt in any significant way when I level up.

Ability wise, to an extent its pointless as you can have only 12 active abilities as you noted. I find though its useful to have points in abilities not used often, just if you feel like mixing things up without respecing.

Other then that, some weapons / armor do have fairly high level requirements.

I had unspent points pretty much all through the game tbh. Abilities are basically just an afterthought. 5% more damage, 5% fire damage, a few extra seconds of yrden... Hardly exciting stuff!
