The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

do not read on if you do not want spoilers. from W1/2/3

however triss has used geralt many times in past. including not telling him that he loved Yen after he lost his memory

she also
She used magic to make him think she was the sorceress he was in love with before he lost his memory.

So basically you could say that she kinda "raped" him with magic.

In the general over arching bits from the books Triss has always sort of had a thing for Geralt and in the Witcher 1 it generally feels as though that with his amnesia she finally has the opportunity to get what she has been after for so long. In one it is not so much that she is actively preventing Geralt from recovering his memory but that her help and advice is very heavily predicated on lies of omission. One of her big bits of advice is for Geralt to not blindly believe what people tell him about himself and while to some degree a perhaps useful idea fosters Triss's ability to manipulate him into the relationship she has long desired. Further one of the more important bits I found playing it again was the point in which she references the Djinn/Rinde incident carefully leaving very key and important elements out of what occurred there.

In two the con is beginning to fall apart and, rose of remembrance conspiracies aside, with the elven bath scene essentially the the culmination. Wanting to ensure the relationship before it can all fall apart Triss desperately tries to get Geralt to run off with her and leave the politics and other issues behind, largely as it seems the pursuit of these will undoubtedly bring about the destruction of their relationship, as they invariably do.

Essentially her not being completely truthful with Geralt leads to their time together at Foltest's court. If she had been completely honest or worked harder to pursue restoring Geralt's memory he would have most likely taken off looking for Yen sometime before the events of the Witcher 2 but instead she wanted him for herself and tried to keep it going as long as she possibly could.

Thanks for the background info. I thought that Triss was completely innocent in this and was struggling with the idea of shunning her. Now that I know the full picture I think I'll be able to make my decision, whatever that will be, a bit more easily. Cheers!

lol i ment in the witcher :p

Jeez Louize, I should have know and you should've made it less of a trap :D

Well, the next main quest is to "get a boat to skellige", but I installed a few mods, one of which being a "show all quests on the map" mod so I am just running around in Valen doing side quests and checking out the "?" Areas until I am forced to do some more main quests.

The last one I tried was "The beast of Honorton", but I am still a bit week to defeat the 3 buggers roaming that small village. Think I'm around Lv15 now..

Yeah I am actually aware of the above but I still like her better then Jen.. guess I am just a sucker for redheads :o
I have not read the books though but figured out she wasn't being all honest about things, but still, just find her attitued in the game better the Jen's (Whom I know is his love from the books, or so other posts about Witcher have lead me to believe anyway). But it is a game and that's what makes it fun, can go different paths. To bad you can't do an ending that leaves you with Shani as well, since if we going for personalities, her I think is the best of them 3.

I appreciate that this is probably a biased place to ask, but I didn't want to start a new thread, so if you could try to be objective that'd be great.
Is "The Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt (GOTY)" worth getting for £18?

I played "The Witcher (Enhanced Edition)" and didn't really get on with it (I think it was a combination of the combat and the aimlessness I felt at the start).
I own but didn't play "The Witcher 2" mostly because I didn't like the first one but also because the reviews I saw seemed to suggest they took the combat in a direction I wouldn't enjoy.

So with this in mind is it worth me getting "The Witcher 3" or will I likely dislike that too if I didn't like the previous games? Maybe I should wait for it to go cheaper? (I think I picked the other 2 up when they were less than £5)

I didn't finish the second Witcher, mainly because I found the vast array of menus confusing and overwhelming and never got to grips with the combat - I dropped it down to easy to get by. For this reason I only picked up the 3rd one at the beginning of this year. I can say however that I haven't found the same issues with the Witcher 3 - I playing on normal difficulty and the combat is actually too easy, I should really kick it up a notch. So yes the game is worth any price you'd pay for it really and you need not worry about the combat.

i will first go by saying The £18 is worth it.
i paid £60 on release + Season pass & feel like i have not given enough for a developer that's love their game.
I've so far got 408 Hours out of this game & still going to do 2 more play through. I also bought the game 3 more times at £30 for friends because i wanted them to play it & see how good it is.

However getting back to your Question

Witcher 1 - I also hated it. the story was cool but the combat was horrid...

Witcher 2 - the story was great but i didnt enjoy the combat to much, overall i didnt enjoy the game that much

Witcher 3 - The story is epic & combat is fluid & is my best game ive ever played.

So overall you can not like Witcher 1 & 2 and love 3

I am sure there are more quests to be discovered. But as far as journal quests, I like the fact that I can just open the map, look for the closest quest, select it and get on eith it..

The astounding amount of content and effort they put into this game makes it an absolute must have!

The amazing array of mods is pretty cool as well.

Finished the main campaign last night and can't make my mind up what to do next, I have both the DLC but unsure whether to NG+ or just crack on with the expansions. What do you guys recommend?

I haven't played this since I completed it last summer. I wonder if it's been long enough that I can dive back in. I normally can't replay games or watch movies when I've already completed them so know what's coming, but this game is just such a wonderful immersive world that I may just enjoy it all over again.

Still looking forward to Andromeda once Bioware actually finishes developing it though :p

I enjoyed second playthrough as much as the first - did some different choices, saw some different things, and it was just pleasure to be back. Plus I had Blood and Wine to be enjoyed fresh.

Half way through my second play through, 90 hours in. Not yet played the DLCs. I'm waiting for my new 1080 Ti which is coming tomorrow before continuing.
