The Witcher - Enhanced Edition

Well for me, I can remember the loading times and all of them everywhere, were over a minute at least, sometimes over one minute thirty. Now at the start I may get up to fifty seconds, the rest are under twenty seconds and some even under five seconds.

I only played half way through the standard edition and stopped due to constant crashing which I found out was not due to the game, but something a clean install of XP sorted out. I am glad I waited for the enhanced edition to start from scratch as this game truly amazing. As someone said before it just oozes atmosphere such as the rats that chase the chickens.

There are games out there with much more impressive graphics engines but for me this still the best looking game around because of design, detail and artistry.

Anyone who likes this game please do yourself a favour and read The Witcher book "The Last Wish" which is a very good read. The game is very true to the spirit of the book and it is plain to see that these guys are huge fans of all things Witcher.

Only negative is that there could still be more variation in the NPC crowds.

i thought it was the same models except they introduced more diversity and animations in them? (ie different clothes and more hand/arm gestures ohh and unless im very much mistaken a butch voice for Lambert??!!) :D

I have noticed the kids say more things, some of which is fairly amusing.

Wouldn't recommend anyone purchase the game 'digitally' because you'll get an unlock key that is in a different format to the actual patcher.

I'm still waiting for an email back from them :(

well that's not an issue for me anymore.. Atari, in their infinate wisdom, have decided that the UK isn't good enough to buy the game on Steam.

stupid ******* publishers

Will be the first game I've bought on physical media for absolute yonks!

I don't even see the sense in not offering all games to everywhere on Steam. It surely can't cost them anything to say "Yeah, release it to UK steam customers", while it's certainly costing them my purchase.

yeah i havent been on it much. And i restarted it so im still at the very start.
Been playing Lost Crown which is a bit spiffing :)
OK straying off topic, is it any good and what is the maximum in-game resolution setting? I used to be an avid adventure game fan but have not played any for years. I was considering this or the science fiction "Perry" something game.

I had a look at perry rhodan, and it's resolution locked, at a 4:3 aspect ratio. It looked utter tosh :(

And what resolutions does Lost Crown support. As long as the resolution is not that much lower than my native 1680 x 1680 resolution it will be fine. I never use scaling as it is pants on a LCD and rather put up with smaller screen and black borders.

Finally got some time to patch the game and start playing only i'm not having much luck with it. I get an error message half way through patching claiming a corrupt cab file is to blame... gutted :(

I need to reinstall Witcher completely cos the its screwed my installation, i'm sure I'll find that the same will happen again.

right.... just finished it.. i'm not entirely sure i can recommend it.....you will feel compelled to finish it for the story but the ending isnt uhh great say no more. Lets just say how would you like it if you were reading a book and the last 2 pages are ripped out? (its not that bad but feels a little bit like that)

resolution is fixed in game cant change it i dont think (1024x768 possibly). Graphics are pretty good though Sound is awesome. Best played at night in the dark with headphones on.
:D

You have to be patient to play this game because the dialogue is awful imo. Very very linear story (great atmosphere though - very mysterious and leads you in)

overall "enjoyed" it more the The Longest Journey. You get different things to do e.g. ghosthunting stuff gadgets etc.

not sure i enjoyed it... hrmm..

spoilers below!!!!!!!!!!!

spoilers be down here....

Ok wtf why where things not really answered at the end?? The plot and the weird stuff happening is mostly NOT explained! Considering that is what made me want to finish it (the story) i am a bit annoyed! :(

e.g. the sparse colour in the screens - i mustve missed where they explained this???????

Plot felt like something like Lost but the questions arent answered..... e.g. Danvers being like a ghost at times.. the differing times....the weird answers you get from some npcs....
bahhh :(

edit: checked a few other adventure forums...looks like this is common...wtf do developers not tie things up in adventures? are they just suckering us in so we buy a sequel? thats balls.... They should mention this in reviews... in an adventure the story is soo important so if its totally messed up at the end it can ruin an excellent game imo. Adventure games are more like books and films where the ending is important to the overrall feel of the game.

It's locked at 1024x768, like Perry Rhodan.

The only reason I won't be getting either game.. I don't like playing in a tiny box in the middle of my widescreen ;)

uvmain yeah thats what i said already...

but apprently someone found a res fix in the other Lost Crown thread. Didnt bother me as im only on a 17" laptop.

ending certainly bothered me....to the extent that i'm not sure i want to play another adventure game without knowing it has a proper ending... i feel its a bit of a cop-out by the developer (will be emailing him asap)

Now i hear Dreamfall:TLJ is the same? ie shoddy ending that doesnt answer diddly squat?

But this is coz i think the story in adventure games is much more important than in e.g. an fps. Its like reading a really good book or mystery novel and the last few pages are ripped out. You cant end a game just by displaying "the end" on the screen....

Myself and others waiting over 7+ days for gamesplanet/metaboli to email us details of our CD Keys. I got sick of that so I emailed Atari and got an email with the key inside 7mins

Now I'm patched up (30mins) and readeh to go!

just finished the demo, enhanched game on its way not reallt played many rpgs other that kotor, titat quest and oblivion. both which i got bored off so lets see what happens looks good.

Oblivion the leveling ruined it for me, titan quest i only got couple of months back and enjoy dipping into to that now and then when i feel the urge.
