The Witcher - Enhanced Edition

Same, cant even authenticate my version of the game to install the patch >_<

I've got the same issue :( How long has it been down for?

EDIT: It's up now, but I'm getting a different error;

Any ideas?

Another EDIT!: Just rebooted my PC and am now back to the original error...think I may just give up!

Got the same error as you mate, it really is a crap system of getting it to work. Download patch, register game, download language pack, Catastrophic error!

i just want to play :<

Yep, it's a pain in the bum! What's worse is that since restarting my PC I now can't even load it; get the "setup.cpp" error I posted a while back. Grr.

Just got back from the official support forums (for some un-official support) and the verdict was a corrupted download. Originally i downloaded from Gamershell but trying from the polish website that had the link provided on the official website. Getting reasonable download speeds.

Aye that's why I suggested using scaling if your GPU can do it. I run The Witcher in 1920x1080 (native res is 1920x1200) but I can run with black bars, so the "waterfalling" lines in cutscenes aren't there anymore.

hrmm heres a couple of screens. (yeah im happy with 20 fps playable :p)

black bars in cutscenes but thats all. waterfalling?

You seem to not be getting the waterfalling effect, though you have shrunk the images down by about 50%, so it's probably just scaled them into the image. Here are some pictures I posted on the official forums: -

Look at the tip of her nose, her upper lip and her neck in particular. The effect is even more noticeable on the turkey that's cooking on the fire in the background though.

I don't know how you're not having this issue because it's an insanely common problem and I've had it on a range of hardware since The Witcher came out; 8800GTS (640MB), 8800GTX, 8800GT, 3870X2 and now my 4870.

On the first four cards I was playing at 1680x1050 and it wasn't possible for me to scale a 16:9 resolution properly, but now I have a 1920x1200 monitor I can scale 1920x1080 at full width.

its a little hard to spot but yeah i can see a difference in the comparison pic. Her face and neck: horizontal lines/grids down them....so it looks weird. Looks much better and smoother on the 1920x1080 pic.

i'll post a couple more pics of closeup women. My video card is a go7900GTX.

Im a bit miffed, this is my 3rd time to play the game, only got to chapter 3 last time, but i failed a quest in the 1st area, so have missed out on my 2nd card, but ive no idea how it happened all the dogs were attacking me :x

hello - to get passed the catastrophic error you need to disconnect from net before you start patching (just after you have successfully registered)

I've just bought the ee and after installing I get popping and crackling sounds, and I guuess the video intro is kinds stuttery aswell, any ideas?I've looked on the support forum and I cant see anything that relates to it, I've tried downloading the little work rounds for eax but that hasn't helped either :-(

I've heard of quite a few people having this problem, it was quite common on the support forum but then I spent nearly a whole day on there trawling through threads trying to solve my issues. Have you tried disabling EAX completely?
