The Witcher - Enhanced Edition

Has anybody else had problems with The Witcher since the patch?

I can't even start the game and its not the EAX issue either. According to the Witcher community and forums there seems to be a few of us with the same issue, as soon as I launch the game it crashes. Works in all versions 1.0 - 1.3 but fails after 1.4 patch :(

Yeah I tried it, I'd been on the issue for 2 days now, tried everything suggested over on the Witcher forums (they've got some pretty cool unofficial support over there) but no luck.

Anyway I tried installing on a Vista box and applied the same patches I'd downloaded and used on my XP box and strangely it worked. So I just copied the whole Witcher folder over to XP and it worked.... weird really.

There were some problems in the patch process, when I tried patching on XP it took 2minutes before it said it was finished which was strange, on Vista it took 20-25 minutes which was a bit more realistic. It obviously wasn't patching properly, apparently there were quite a few people with the same problem. Anyway at least its solved now.

What files do I need to download to upgrade from my original Witcher to the Enhanced Edition? Do I need both the 1.4 patch and the English language pack? If so, which order do I install them in?

One thing I would suggest is to make sure the patches are the correct size, because the first few times I tried the downloads cut out before they had fully finished.

Just tried to install it and get this error. Any ideas?

The anti-aliasing bug in Vista is really starting to annoy me. You're not able to set it higher than 2x in the options with higher resolutions like 1680x1050, and driver overrides don't work either. What's even worse is that you're able to go up to 4x under XP with exactly the same spec.

Rage. I though this was intentional, but if it works under XP it's definitely not.

Might post on the official forums about it, I want 4x antialiasing at 1920x1080. :(

works under XP anti-aliasing at 1920x1200 is nice :)

If your monitor or graphics card can scale vertically then you should try running it at 1920x1080, running in a 16:9 resolution is the only way I could find to get rid of the horrid chopping lines you get in cutscenes.

thats my native res 1920x1200. Running lappy at non-native looks considerably worse on all games for me. Hadnt noticed those lines, i'll check when i get home.

Aye that's why I suggested using scaling if your GPU can do it. I run The Witcher in 1920x1080 (native res is 1920x1200) but I can run with black bars, so the "waterfalling" lines in cutscenes aren't there anymore.
