17 mins on Vista 64. Samsung F1 drive.

Nowhere near 2hrs, heh.

Was nowhere near that quick for me, the latest model of Hitachi 160GB.

Then again... I did have file indexing on... And AntiVirus...

probably took about 40mins or so. but now i start the game and it crashes straight away, witcher has encountered a problem and needs to be shut down..

sucks cause ive never really had any major problems with it before. working fine for anyone else who has the 177.92's installed?

*Seems to be a problem with having EAX on. Tried turning it off but that didnt help.

Does anyone know the ALchemy creative settings for the game?

Have you got the latest ALchemy version yet? I think it should detect the Witcher automatically and add it to the list by itself. Here's the details from http://connect.creativelabs.com/alchemy/Lists/Games/AllItems.aspx though.

^ if your not limited with download restrictions, then maybe try downloading the english pack again. gamershell is nice and fast, its 3rd on the list. http://www.gamershell.com/pc/the_witcher_enhanced_edition/downloads.html

You have to install the enhanced edition 1.4 update first (which is the pack I can't install) and then the language pack. When I try to install the language pack first i get it tells me that the update 1.4 enhanced edition needs to be installed. So basically I am buggered.

Did you download each file seperately?

What I did was download the 1.4 patch, the english language pack and then both additional modules

I put them all in the same directory and then ran the large 1.4 update and it handled the rest

From what you said there, i was going to say what scott said. put the 2 files in the same directory. cause when you install the update and select your language, it obviously looks for that language pack.

Thanks, It worked but I forgot to put the additional adventure packs in the folder. I wonder if I can install them afterwards. The web site instructions completely fail to mention they all have to be in the same folder. Are the addition packs part of the main story line or can be played separately because I do not want to go through the whole process again cause i want to start playing. I can always install them later.

saguy the addition packs are played separately. youd go new game and select one of them. almost like the module system in NWN's. so you ll be able to install them separately

ok for anyone who gets 'catastrophe' or something error, try this

disable firewall and allow the patch to check it's registered after that before continuing disable the network and then it will continue

if you have this error you'll know, its to do with the localized key.
