The X-factor people seem to miss the fact that it is really good 'switch your brain off' Saturday night TV. They don't need to treat us like we're stupid with all the sob stories, scripted jokes, never ever mentioning that 90% of the people who turn up don't actually get to see the judges etc. We'd watch it anyway even if they stopped all that nonsense.

...generally a rubbish show but the preliminary auditions I love to watch for the sheer amusement but what's happened this season? It's all done on stage in front of an audience. It's all completely scripted and rehearsed, like the little jokes the contenders have with the judges, it's really cringeworthy for all the wrong reasons (as opposed to the right reasons in years before).

I'll admit I've watched a couple of the studio performances in the past, but I just don't like the show, it's just so cringeworthy.

After reading this - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8209429.stm even Cheryl couldn't keep me watching for more than 30 seconds.

I was going to watch X-Factor. Then I remembered that last night I burnt my mouth, so have been prodding that instead. It's proven less painful, more interesting, and overall much more enjoyable than any X-Factor Extravaganza I've ever witnessed.

Well - that said I like LL in that she can sing, but she needs to be given decent records.

Non-"mainstream" stuff is so much better these days. I find half my music from random searching on Spotify, Amazon and whatnot
