***The X-Factor Thread - ALL X-Factor Related Stuff In Here***

Interesting stuff on Australian X-Factor which is down to the last 5 and then the judges have to vote out from the last 2.

Ronan Keating votes Mahogany out
Natalie Imbruglia votes Luke & Joel out
Guy Sebastian says he's not voting because they are both his artists (similar to Cheryl Cole)
Kyle Sandilands votes Luke & Joel out making it 2:1
BUT the compere goes back to Guy Sebastian and says "Well I suppose you're voting out Mahogany?" which will take it to a public vote.
As far as I'm concerned Guy already had his vote.

What relevence does that have to the UK version?

It is exactly like what happened last week with Cheryl Cole but Cheryl wasn't asked a second time.
One judge decided not to vote because both artists were his.
The vote was 2:1 in favour of the girl group and they should have won there and then.
For some unknown reason the compere in this case went back to the Judge and said "It is 2:1, I suppose you are voting for a deadlock?" (I changed the words to make it easier since you don't know the artists).
The judge then said to take it to deadlock and the compere should not have gone back to him.

If that had happened in the UK they would have wanted a beheading.
The point I'm making is that the UK X-Factor did right and went to a majority when Cheryl wouldn't vote against her artists.

Sorry, I meant how (if it is) is their show of relevance to ours. Do they have the same production company so, in theory, have the same rule book?

Personally I think they should drop these 'groups' as mentors always vote for their own even when they are a worse contestant.

Well (I think I'm right) the X-Factor is a franchise and Simon Cowell will get money from the different X-Factors all around the world so therefore it should be using the same rule book.
I've seen several different countries versions and they all look the same.

Perhaps there should be a rule that they can't vote on their own artist.

It is definitely a franchise and as XFactor is Cowell's creation, he will definitely get some form of payment/fee.

In theory, the rules should be identical across all the shows. Unless Cowell has decided to change the rules as he goes along, to suit the situation.

What rules? Seriously, are there actually rules? The whole thing is designed to be flexible. As my local radio stated this morning, it's just panto.

Very much so, but unfortunately there are a lot of people (mainly young) who don't understand this and spend a fortune on votes over the two months it is on :(.

matt to win :]
In relative terms he's OK. The overwhelming lack of ability amongst the other contestants give him his shine, as opposed to raw talent of which there in none at all in there this year.

It really has become car crash TV! I love to hate it :)

In fact Matt has a male falsetto voice which means he definitely has raw talent. Whether you like it or not is irrelevant to this fact.
