My daughter who started at Durham this year tells me she's shocked at how many students don't do any work and spend all their time drunk or asleep.

You're daughter deffinately tells you everything that happens at uni ;)

Ok, show me a link to a protest in Manchester and London on 14th December where 9000 young people gathered to protest against post grad tuition loans only being available to under 30's.

Union website news articles don't count.

And if I can't find one what does that mean?

But it isn't a 'Media Blackout' is it? It's just that it was too boring to report on.
Perhaps it's your fault for not spicing it up a little, a few windows smashed or bricks thrown at Coppers would have had it on the national news and you know it.

I never mentioned a media blackout.

You replied to Oldcoals who used the words Media Blackout so I can take this as an acknowledgement of those words:

Jesus if we imposed "the post you quoted is now what you're arguing against" rules this place would be even more of a mess than it already is.

No I know what you're saying but I just don't interpret quoting a post in that way at all, to the extent that I'm surprised you're trying to make this point.

I read it as a response to OldCoals calling the statement "utter rubbish".

I can only assume you're getting caught up on technicalities because the "loads of links" you predicted don't actually exist, sort of proving a point.

Either way, whatever. Enjoy your day.

I attend a lot of rallies and most attendees are of the younger generation. It's just that it doesn't seem so as there is a general agreement in the media to not give these rallies/assemblies any print or air time, so it seems like they just don't happen. I attended a lot of the rallies in Scotland during the independance run up and most of the people there were younger as well.

It means that not all protests are reported by the media, as I said earlier.

I never mentioned a media blackout.

You didn't say there was a media blackout, I took issue with the fact you suggest there is some sort of media cabal

You can't behead all the Jews just because Mohammed did it first, it's racist.

Besides, who will show ISIS how to run a state properly ?

Did I say that? Please don't tar me with your brush.

The behaviour of Israel is disgusting and highly reprehensible. It doesn't take a genius to see that the attitude they have towards Palestine is unacceptable. Those who don't see it are very much blinkered, especially when you take into account the quality of life in Palestine in comparison to Israel.

I know, you keep working, I will be calling it a day next year and having paid in all my life I'm looking forward to getting a return on my subs.
That's not how it works though, you haven't paid in all your life to enjoy it now. You've paid in all your life to support the people who went before you.

It's in your own interests for the tax take from the current working generation to be as high as possible to fund the services you are going to continue to enjoy. Which is why although it doesn't directly affect you, unemployment rates and the standard of education is still important. Because if there's no money and the government are fundamentally opposed to increased borrowing, your prior contributions will count for nothing.

Youngsters do protest but its all about the latest celebrity craze now and getting a boob job on the NHS and free council house.

Our country is dying under the weight of socialism and the selfie.

Socialism - have I strayed into a parallel universe? This present government is far more reactionary than Thatcher ever was (I know I was there). Ask CityLink employees/ex-employees what they think of socialism 2014 style.

I have to agree with Billie on this one. I lived in the North during the Thatcher era and although the press was more vociferous at the time I think this so called coalition have been more crafty. They have better spin doctors but have done things Thatcher could never have got away with all under the guise of 'The recession' and the need to pay down the national debt.

Perhaps all those arabs shouldn't have migrated to Palestine if it was so bad, or in fact leave if it is so bad, or even just stop working for the Jews.
Then the rest of the world could stop giving them billions of dollars of handouts to prop up their corrupt terrorist state and fill the pockets of their leaders.

Palestine is the most bent country on Earth.
