Theres a mental woman who's decided to fall asleep on my doorstep!!

Don't call the Police, there is a chance they will beat her to death or something else incompetent.

Sometimes I wish I could swear at people. Especially ignorant, stupid people.

Just call an ambulance dude.

The police are wasting your time by not turning up.

The Police could be very busy with a whole myriad of other things. You do realise that being a medic/social worker/taxi driver/mental health professional aren't our primary roles?

Hell, we might actually be busy catching murderers and rapists

I think I know why the police don't care. They asked me to describe her and I said she was black. Damn.

I do hope my sarcasm detector is off. Going on to OcUK after a 10 hour late shift is probably not helping.

What have the police done with her then? If she has mental health issues hopefully they have taken her somewhere to be assessed.
They're simply going to drop her off at Stratford Station, poor woman had 3 bin liners full of stuff as well. :(

I went out and explained to them that she may have a relation to the guys living in the ground floor flat. She was refusing to go anywhere for almost 40 minutes. All the poor woman knew to say was "Stratford" so they said they'll take her to Stratford Station.

Farewell old lady. :(

I am not a copper, but having family members who are, I share your frustration at idiots who are only interested in knocking a vital part of our society and well-being.

if she's so depressed that she wanted to kill herself, I doubt she would have just nutted out on someone's porch. People in that state of mind are too intense for that.

If you were passed out, who would you want to come and pick you up, the ambulance service or the Police?

Bare in mind I said a chance, not that all Police were incompetent and she was guaranteed to die, but with 16 having been killed due to restraint-related deaths and the clear and obvious way some (lets face it, most) Police repeatedly cover up their wrongdoings and crimes or at the very least stay silent when their colleagues have done wrong, I would much rather medical personnel look after me than the Police given the choice.

Keith Vaz said:
‘It is a matter of concern. This is a highly sensitive area, which deals with one of those parts of public policy that needs to be looked at very carefully. What we will have to do is have a proper, thorough inquiry into this matter.’

The IPCC’s research found that 333 people died in police custody between 1999 and 2009, including 86 who died after being restrained. That figure included 16 of the most controversial cases which were classed as restraint-related.

I too have family members who are or were Police, including a grandfather who I admired greatly who was a Deputy chief constable. I do not have a vested interest nor do I take any pleasure in knocking the Police. Just because their job is a vital part of our society and well-being does not mean they are beyond reproach.

When stuff like this is going on and trying to be covered up time and time again

The IPCC, CPS and the Police itself need a severe good looking at, they are clearly corrupt and no longer fit for service in many cases, chosing to serve themselves rather than the public good.

Well that depends why I was passed out. I'd hope I was never in that situation as I try to be responsible for myself. Anyway, regardless of who you'd want to pick you up, a better question is who is likely to pick you up, because it's unlikely to be Ambulance, especially on a Saturday night/Sunday morning.

I won't respond to the rest as quite frankly it doesn't deserve a response, but I do still wish I could swear at small minded individuals who don't really have a clue in the slightest.

But your taking one unacceptable case that will make the papers. how many good things that the police do, never make the papers. NONE. Because they happen too often for people to bother reporting.

I agree, these officers should be dealt with with a zero tolerance policy, but your kind of painting them all with the same brush.

Oh colour me surprised, a Police officer who when challenged can't defend himself! Just like in the real world. ;)

Good for you being responsible, as am I, if only the real world worked like that then captain hindsight wouldn't have to exist. Alas, as well as sensible people who have been bought up in privilege like you and I exist, so do vulnerable people who have not had such upbringings who sometimes find themselves in need of assistance.

I didn't ask who would be more likely, I didn't say all Police were scum and likely to kick a mentally ill or drunks head in for fun, I simply asked you who you would rather be picked up by, and you couldn't answer the question, because the facts are on my side, not the Police, and as Police job approval ratings are across the board falling through the floor, the public are clearly beginning to notice thanks to greater transparency, modern mobile phones securing evidence that cannot be covered up and better and more free communication amongst the public thanks to the internet exposing the bad Police more often.

Eventually the good guys win, it will just take time, and part of that is the decent Police no longer covering up for the criminal ones, and part of that is you yourself, as a Police officer, admitting that there are serious issues in the Police force that need addressing.

Until then, combat liberalism.

I qualified myself time and again that it wasn't all Police officers. It isn't just one incident, this one incident exposes the many problems all the way up the chain, from the racist officer in the first place, to his colleagues who didn't immediately report him, to the IPCC wanting to not bother with it and to the CPS who tried to cover it up and say it didn't matter. It is merely an example.

Trains at this time of night? This isn't the continent you know...:p

Fair do's, never really gave any thought to the fact there wouldn't be any trains running!

That said, what have they dropped her off at the station for if she can't get a train? All she's gonna do is sleep somewhere else that's very cold :(
