They are Billions - RTS meets Zombie Hordes !

It’s so addictive!

Got to Day 78 on my map 4 run. Made too many mistakes but most of all I didn’t (couldn’t) start (booming) until day 40, such a slow start!!

Ditto. 3440 x 1440 is fine and dandy :)

Very nearly at the end of what looks like a good run on easy mode on Map1. I've learnt a lot so even if i die I want to try again.

21:9 is nice to look at, but the way the game currently works is you don't get warnings for things that happen on screen. Playing at 3440, this just means you need to be extra vigilant.

V0.6 is now out. The big addition is the new community challenge which starts Monday. Other changes include the ability to add way-points to a unit's path (works with move, patrol or attack apparently), explosive barrels, and the ability to repair/reuse old abandoned turrets you can now find on the map.

Edit: Community challenge is there already. Maybe they add each new map on a Monday.

Took a few attempts but got there in the end :)

Is there any form of anti-cheat in the community challenge? I know that there are several cheats out for the game (Infinite resources for example) , so I'm wondering if the community challenge has something to detect people who are simply using those cheats to score high?

It's an offline single player. Anyone can open a memory editing program and fiddle values.

But you don't even need to do that to cheat the community challenge since it follows the same rules as any other game. You can save and replay the map.

Not to mention when everyone plays the same map, as soon as someone posts a picture of the map an advantage is available.

So don't get emotionally invested in the challenges, they are exploitable and always will be as long as this is an offline single player

Well I'm not emotionally invested as such, just wondered if there was a system to prevent anyone leaderboarding a cheated entry otherwise I couldnt see the point of the community challenge having a leaderboard. Cant say that I see the point of cheating in a game like this, not even the save and replay thing, seems downright idiotic to me but I know that many gamers today cant handle something that has a challenge of difficulty to it.

Completed map 4 on 110% and I’m quite relieved it’s all over tbh!!!!

Nailbiting stuff and 86 hours of my life sucked away. Not bad for £17!

You'll find most top scores are where people have abused the final wave, so they have maybe 1-2 zombies left, and just build a wall pinata for it. Meanwhile they just build houses and farms for the final 7 or so days on the empty map. Just pure score inflation.

The challenge mode as a whole is very poorly thought out.

Seem to have encountered a curious glitch, I fired up my They are Billions today and went to the community challenge (I have already played this weeks map once), seemingly it couldnt make a connection to the leaderboard as instead of displaying the leaderboard it just said Loading Please Wait....

Strangely though, even though (or maybe Because) it couldnt make a connection to the leaderboard, it actually let me do the map again. So I'm wondering now if you can re-do the challenge maps multiple times by forcing it to not be able to make a connection to the leaderboard.

Might be getting flooded with rigged scores so someone pulled a plug.

Saw some comical numbers when I looked at the ladder.

Total farce.

Map 4 is so hard. I've beaten the first 3 on challenging difficulty (100 day) but the same on Map 4 is just so incredibly frustrating. The same tactics do not work.

No they don’t! I have finally beat it though so am happy with that.

Food is so scarce and sound management is key. I found not building walls and using balistas to defend your borders was key. When the announced hordes came I literally waited until I knew what point they were going to hit, walled up and had a sniper ball in waiting. Once defeated I destroyed the wall. I only left walls in place once I had stone walls and could afford to build at least a double if not a triple layer.

I didn’t even upgrade the balistas to executers for the final wave just had a load of Thanatos and snipers and a few electric towers that a mayor gave me!
