Thief

Polar opposites then. :D

I guess but I did say it was a Deadly shadows equivalent so far.

There is a marked contrast between Thief 1/2 and Deadly Shadows in terms of freedom as many people complained about at the time.

I' finding the stealth aspects just as satisfying as DS at least.

I'll stand by my rating of 7/10 :D

In the old Thief games if you got detected it made your mission harder or you had to run and hide. In this excuse for a game the mission ends. I know it's the early missions but come on.

In Master Thief mode yes (not the easier modes) however, as previously said, you can create a custom setup.

Edit: that being said I am quite annoyed they removed Swordplay. I have no idea why they thought fighting a guard, holding a sword, with a blackjack was at all a good idea.

So 30 minutes into this game and every negative review I read was wrong. They were far too lenient, it's worse than awful.

This is turgid scripted muck.

The guy cant even fall off the walls/planks/walkways. This alone tells you how utterly scripted and restrictive this game is.

the mission ends wut? lol..

I agree though

climbing , juimping , falling , is scripted press a button to activate a script it's shocking in a modern game.

especially one with traps you can't just jump over like a normal thief

I already said the combat is horrible because of all the attacks and stuff on different kets to use every possible button of a controller but why why leave it like this for the pc?

default left click should be melee, right click should be dodge.

scroll to choose throwawable/fireable weapon arrow/bottle etc to fire/throw why WHY WHY GOD WHY! is the arrows and melee on a different button just WHY?!?!?!?!?!

this is precisely what the scroll wheel was invented for... not for scrolling up pages but for scrolling between fists , arrows , guns etc

you're telling me this control scheme was designed for PC? **** *** was it it's pure console style controls.

I'd wager no one is very comfortable

using wasd to move.
whilst positioning the camera with the mouse.
whilst pressing R to attack
whilst pressing V to dodge (surely presisng R and V you are forced to only use W/A for movement? or you drop the mouse to have combat
whilst maybe pressing F and scrolling between weapons at the same time.

with the default keys how can people play that ****? how can you press R and V whilst using wasd to out manoeuvre your opponent and using the mouse to keep the view centred on the guy ?

surely everyone agrees the controls would be far easier if melee/shoot/throw were on the same bloody button with the scroll wheel to choose which one?

but then again the game is so scripted maybe they had to do this because the combat is scripted and the same button on one script is a nono lol.....

Is that's the starter mission with the girl? Once you get out in the city I have been seen by guards and was able to run away.

I have just completed the mission at the start where you have to reach the clock tower and I am in two minds whether to carry on. Maybe I have missed the point to this game but does it open up at all after this point or am I going to be continually forced down the ally ways and through only the doors and windows the devs want me to use? :D

The Bit-tech review slates the first level as the worst possible introduction but says it gets better as you go on - more open world bits, multi-option missions, a bit less on-rails etc.

It's worth a read I think.

Their conclusion is "not the masterpiece we were hoping for, not the terrible flop we were afraid of". Have also seen reviews saying that your experience of the previous titles may be a big deal in that "it's a so-so 'Thief' game, but it's a very good 'being a thief' game".

This is Human Revolution without most of the RPG elements, Deus Ex lore/story, exploration and immersive world. I think they literally copy/pasted code for certain areas/mechanics.

What a joke.

I noticed a vpn service on my anti virus today. It's avast anti virus. They have a 3 day trial vpn located in the store tab.

Good thing is no restarting the pc and no loss of speed while browsing that I have noticed so I going to leave it running for the full 3 days.

The game is now unlocked for me.

Anyone else experiencing a bug where peeking or zooming in and such has a kind of silhouette appear? It started about 10 minutes ago, and is getting a bit annoying! Though I haven't tried to fix it yet.

i had that. think its related to DOF quality.

went away when i put DOF on the highest setting.

I just got to the clock tower and thus far I am enjoying it. Sure it is no master piece, but I will enjoy the game for what it is, not how it compares or what it could have been :D

Just gone through the foundry. Plenty of alternate routes, hidden areas and a few puzzles. A well thought out area. This game really isn't as bad as some people are making out!... In fact I am really enjoying it so far. Yes, there are things I find less than great, and definitely a few things that I would really want to change, but overall it is very good so far.

I really love the feel of the game in terms of atmosphere, especially the lighting. An the overall graphical direction of the game.

PS. That bug seemed to just go away on it's own.
