Thief

Using one of my 290x's in single mode it achieves 68.6 average on max settings on the benchmark. I very much doubt it, I'm assuming you haven't actually played the game.

benchmark is broken IMO.

i play with everything on max bar SSAA. thats off. use FXAA.

game uses 50% gpu usage and underclocks my 770 between 800-1000mhz.

get a constant 60 fps.

And this doesn't cause any issues with Steam Guard/Vac type software?

None at all. Everyone uses it.

Gonna USE A vpn today. The one thing I really don't like the look of is all of the locked doors I see in every video. In TB's vid for example, I lost count of the number of times he approached a door only to find it was just part of the background!

That's because you've turned super sampling AA off which is a major drain on GPU's, he asked max settings, in which case no he won't. On the other hand turning down a few settings yes he may be able to obtain 60fps. A 580 is quite a bit slower than a 770 anyway.

Is there a decent free VPN I can try to unlock this with?

I have just started(quick blast before work later) and something has occurred to me: When I started, I chose Master difficulty, but it said 'Civilian kills and knockouts will not be tolerated'...does this mean that it will 'game over' if I kill someone? because I really hate that!

Think I will start on custom, with the medium difficulty as my base and add things from there, as I can't stand games that kill you outside of combat!

Also, RPS- http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/02/24/thief-review/

While there’s going to be controversy, I’m arguing that it’s better than good. Thief, Eidos Montreal’s reviving of Looking Glass’s insurmountable series, is a superb game. It’s a tangible relief to write that. After years of really awful publicity, terrible press demos, and trailer after trailer of schlocky crap, our hopes were below waist level. But cast it all aside and chalk it up to abysmal marketing. While there is much to pick at, and I am certain there will be many who are apoplectic in their outrage, as a game within itself, Thief is bloody great.
As the fourth in what I suspect might be the best trilogy in all of gaming, previously from the best development studio that ever existed, yeah – it suffers a bit more there. That’s the Thief dilemma, right there. Eidos Montreal following up Deus Ex, arguably the best ever PC game, was a bold move. Following arguably the best ever PC gaming trilogy was truly gutsy. They weren’t ever going to better it, I don’t think. Neither Thief: The Dark Project’s genre-creating wonderment, nor Thief: Deadly Shadows’ astonishing terror and storytelling, were targets that seemed expectable. And yes, it falls short of them. But damn if it doesn’t get close in places.

It forces you go about being undetected in certain areas with civilians, adds that extra challenge to the game, but the options are there for you to change so you can play how you want.

I am playing on Master Thief with focus mode turned off, this is how it should be played in my opinion. :p
