Things seen in passing that have left an impression?

It makes you appreciate that in the UK we have rules that most people follow.

One time a bus pulled up at a petrol station full of people, the bus driver pulls the keys out of the ignition and gives it the the attendant so he can undo the petrol cap, the bus is still running???? while the attendant is filling up the petrol the bus driver decides it's a good time to have a smoke!!!

LOL which country was this in?

Ah I see you posted above. That was going to be my first guess actually.

Had a few close call when i was in The army.
Done two tours of Iraq - Op telic 7(royal scots) 2006 and 10 (2 royal welsh)2007

op telic 7 was nothing but 10 was pretty hairy.

The driver for our Warrior armored vehicle was killed from a sniper round to the face during a night op in Basra op telic 10 august 2007.We were outer cordon for our sister company who were doing a strike op.
Hot night, driver happened to have his hatch up a little as being right next to the engine it gets very hot so nobody could blame him.Our platoon commander had warned him to keep it shut a week or so before.
Got word to move off after being static for 10 mins or so.Driver never responded on the net and us dismounts were told to go see what was wrong (we all thought he had dozed off)Seen that he was dead and got on the net.Spent the next few minutes trying to get his body out but being a big 18 stone lad it was pretty hard. His boots were also stuck under the pedals in the driver hatch.Had to get reme to drag warrior back to Basrah palace as we never got him out as we were under heavy small arms fire.
Vehicle started burning as his feet were under brakes, had to stop to put out fire this time when we dismounted we didn't have rounds pinging off the warrior.

We got back and us private soldiers got told to get cleaned up as few of us were covered in blood.I believe our snco's had to break his legs with a sledgehammer.

We got told our warrior would be steam cleaned but it was not so we had to clean it up the best we could with water etc.For the rest of the tour (2/3 months) we had to put up with the smell of stale blood. We spend days cleaning it out but never could get rid of the smell.

A few years back I was on the bus off to college for the day. The bus passes a nice area and on this one morning I happened to be looking up at the houses instead of my book and all I saw was an old couple plastered against a window doing what I can only describe as 'Making reversey pastry smashing' Woman was the one with the 'rolling pin'.

To this day I some times get flashbacks.

I once witnessed a drunken fogbeast getting her pasty out in the back of my taxi. horrible sight that left me mentally shaken.

other than that once saw a guy get hit by a bus full on. and the squelch he made as he hit the ground will stick with me forever

I went to university with a very very racist guy, part time I was 24 he was 35 odd arsenal supporter from the suburbs of London, old school he used to say things like them and us, our boys, one of them etc and more I can't repeat here.

one day we were walking along and some black guy tapped him on his shoulder and said "you dropped this mate" it was his gambling money in a bank money bag one of the clear ones with quantities on the outside, probably had 70-100 in it plus his tab sheet.

the look he gave me was priceless, bit dim and dumbfounded

Terrible, stuff we see on the news etc isnt a patch on the guys and girls out on the front line..

My grand parents used to tell me some grusome storys from the war etc, i listened but i apriciated more the mental torture that put them through throughout there lives

The only thing that has really affected me so that I still think back on it occasionally was when I was in America with my parents when I was 16.

I was in the car with my dad and we were driving to the shops. A black SUV pulled up beside us at the lights and the driver kept looking over at me in the passenger seat. When the lights turned green the guy cut someone up to pull in behind us and followed us into the supermarket. Dad noticed that it was the same guy so grabbed me and we left and the guy didn't follow.

Watching tv that night a 12 year old girl was molested in that shop by that guy that was following us. When I think about it I feel relieved and guilty, relieved that it wasn't me but guilty that it was only a 12 year old it happened to.

Wow, some of you guys have seen some truly grim stuff. I'm really thankful that I haven't witnessed anything like that.

Can't say that I have seen anything that has really stuck in my mind.

watching my gf give birth..

i wont be watching if she pops out another one..

other than that, nothing in real life, just things ive watched a russian do over the internets

When walking around Brighton one night I passed an alleyway and saw what can only be described as one man bumming another man. I yelled something then ran off.

This is one of the best posts I've read on here.

Good job!

In Wythenshawe (Manchester) walking though the shopping centre I saw a drug deal taking place in a doorway in broad daylight. It made me realise the dark side of our society.

In Wanstead (London) two guys rode past me on their motorcycles in late December. One was dressed head to toe as Father Christmas and the other as a snowman complete with a carrot nose. It made me realise the better side of our society.

I suppose I've also been lucky to not witness anything like this. I've always just been at a scene just before something happens or just after. Such as some-one being decapitated by a bus. He stuck his head out of the bus shelter to look and a bus took it off. I THINK I got on a bus before that happened.
I want to say I've seen someone been hit by a bus, but it was such a low and slow impact they just got back up brushed themselves off and carried on crossing the road. But I could also be making that up from similar stories.

I hadn't seen that before - truly bizarre sequence of events.

Looking into it, there's been no news since that documentary in 2010. Sabina was due for release in 2011 - is she free?

I drove past a disused building in Birmingham a few years back that had 'disco sucks' graffitied on the side in big letters, I'd never really put much thought into it before but I think about it often now and completely agree.
