Things we got for Christmas

I got : Nothing from anyone else

I'm the only breadwinner in the house and tell other people not to buy for me.

After spending a small fortune on the kids/mrs presents - I normally treat myself to a few bits instead :

Optoma 200x 1080p projector (150" Swtor tonight!)
Skyrim (Pc)
Minecraft Pocket Edition (for my Asus Transformer)
Hard Reset (Pc)
Booked and payed for a holiday for me and the mrs/eldest to Kathikus (Cyprus)
Gioteck Ex-05 headset (horribly uncomfortable for me, so going back)
Several Android games for my tablet

That's about it I think, I'm tempted to buy a Swtor mouse from the US but not sure...

Edit - forgot I also bought Trine 2 for the 360 as well.

Nice idea as that way you also get exactly what you want :P Envious of that projector as well.

This whole argument about people getting expensive gifts is retarded. There will be some people in some middle eastern or african hole that will be angry that we have a reliable water supply system let alone the other luxuries.

There will always be people that are less fortunate. Even on this forum we will have people who are rich and people who are poor.

This is life, deal with it...

Nice. I'm thinkinf about getting that projector or the Optoma HD20, let me know how you find it and make a thread about it if you haven't already :p
Oh and what did you pay? I

You're missing the point. The argument isn't about expensive gifts, it's about not appreciating expensive gifts and wanting more. Also please go with the african comparison, i doubt you think about that when you're stuffing your face over christmas :p

Anyway i got quite a large amount of cash today from various relatives so will be buying a new mouse, new headphones, jeans and some gym supplements.
Also bought this while it was on offer http://www.quixel.se/ awesome piece of software for game art

Oh and what did you pay? I

The HD20 is exactly the same from what I remember reading a while back (albeit with a 3 year warranty) mine comes with a 1 year. In fact my firmware actually says "hd20" if I remember right, so go for whatever you can find cheapest/if you need the extra warranty.

Well I bought it about a month ago but it was my Christmas treat to myself, so I've had a little time to test it. I actually went to see a demo near me (was a toss up between an LCD projector (Epson TW3200) and the Optoma 200x. After not seeing any perceptible quality difference on Bluray's (my primary use) and no rainbow effect at all (some people are susceptible to it), I decided to go with the 200x and saved myself a few hundred quid.

I've still not set it up properly yet, it's uncalibrated and I've just been projecting onto white walls until I get something a bit more permanent but bluray quality is stunning, pin sharp, gaming is "fun" but I would imagine is best for driving games etc as I tend to feel a bit dazed after heavy gaming sessions on it.

Paid 600 quid, was nearly a grand last year so a steal!

Looking for another projector at some point next year for a spare room in the house, if they are still around I would easily opt for one again :)

Got loads of chocolate this year - big box from Green and Black's, some Lindt, and some stuff from Hotel Chocolat (doubt any of my work trousers will fit next week :()

Got the G&B's, some perfume, a big Lush gift box, and some Yankee Candles from my OH (perfect presents)
From other people:

Slippers, PJs, bath/body stuff, couple of Amazon vouchers, little bit of money (about £40), couple of books, more candles, socks, scarf, gloves, wine. Usual Christmassy stuff.

My OH is very happy with his new toolbox to go along with his new De Walt drill and his Lego Technic that I found for him :)

My parents are divorced, so going to my dad's later for dinner, so I expect will have a couple more things to add (I know we've got a new doormat for the porch - exciting times ;) but we did need one!) have told him that if he couldn't think of anything to get us, he could give us some money towards a new washer which is on its last legs. When did I become so grown up? :(

Just watched a news item on all the people out shopping, it makes me depressed. Seriously, Christmas has just become a massive sale for so many people, not a celebration. Watching people pushing and shoving each other to get to the "bargains" and snatching up any items they can, the doors of Selfridges opening and people sprinting in, barging each other out of the way. :( Quote from one girl, "It's Boxing Day, so everyone's going shopping - of course!"

I had a lovely day yesterday and can't imagine anything worse than queueing outside blooming Next at 4am...

Seem to be a awful lot of Chinese/Japanese people in the vid... strange. Wonder why.
