Things we got for Christmas

Because the queue is outside Selfridges and English people lack taste? :D

My landlord lives in Malaysia and has a Chinese wife. He said that as a lot of people in China are now making more money than they've ever made before, there is a huge "status boost" to having expensive things like designer bags, sunglasses, expensive watches, etc. Maybe Chinese tourists over here who can get these prized possessions for a much reduced price are going to do it.

And yeah, the girls who said "we didn't look at the price, we'll find out when we look at the receipt later", and the other one who then says, "we're on a budget" -

Seem to be a awful lot of Chinese/Japanese people in the vid... strange. Wonder why.

You missed out Koreans/Thais/Filipinos/Malaysians too..

It was a similar scene last year and my answer is that most are students. You do realise that a sizeable number have money otherwise they wouldn't be able to afford the £10k+ uni tuition fees here per annum.

Back on topic, I didn't get jack for xmas :o

I forgot to list my coolest christmas present of all! :D (mainly because i didn't know about it until now).

A 4 bed detached house. Ok....it's not exactly a present, but what we'll be paying in rent is! It's huge and is worth about £250 more per month in rent than we'll be paying, all thanks to my missus dad who is moving in to another house with his partner and has decided to let it out to us really cheap rather than simply making lots of money off it :D Legend!!!

Got a good haul this year :)

Denby Frying Pan
Denby Knife set
Magazine sub
New Mtb helmet
Gravy separator :p
2 x tshirts
and some monies!!!

Lol at the guy boasting about spending £100 at the Next sale. As someone who has worked one I can tell you there is nothing worth queuing up at 5/6am for at the sale.

Great little haul for me: few Blurays, RDR, God of War HD collection 2, RC helicopter, clothes, and lots of chocs and sweets.
Gf got me Uncharted 3 and chocolates :D
Money from various family members.

Best thing of all was having a day with my family and gf :)

Got a few jelly belly candles from my mum.

Mentioned it a few months ago, just couldn't justify 10 quid on a candle. Toasted marshmellow, bubblegum, mmmm:)

Apologies, didn't mean to offend, was (incorrectly) grouping Oriental people into a broad category of Chinese/Japanese people. Yes, I said in a previous post that I've been told that expensive bags/watches etc are more and more sought-after amongst wealthy oriental people.

Anyway, yes, back on topic. :)

Just watched a news item on all the people out shopping, it makes me depressed. Seriously, Christmas has just become a massive sale for so many people, not a celebration. Watching people pushing and shoving each other to get to the "bargains" and snatching up any items they can, the doors of Selfridges opening and people sprinting in, barging each other out of the way. :( Quote from one girl, "It's Boxing Day, so everyone's going shopping - of course!"

I had a lovely day yesterday and can't imagine anything worse than queueing outside blooming Next at 4am...

Could not agree more... my other half had to get up this morning at 5am to be in work for 7am just because M&S decided after all these years they have been missing out on potential sales.... :(

No idea but just got back from Leicester and there was a massive queue outside Next full of Asians

I know some people will jump on me for stating so but here goes - This happens quite a lot with the Next sales round here. They go in and just scoop up entire racks of clothes (same thing just diff sizes) where they can buy them cheap and then re-sell them on stalls etc at a slightly increased price = profit.

Can't care less if people think I am being racist, it's a fact I have seen and have also been told other people have seen.

Fair play to them if they can see a niche in the market and make money from it.

Money.
The Inbetweeners movie bluray.
Stoke City FC hooded sweatshirt.
Pair of Jogging trousers.
Litre of Russian Standard Vodka.
Watch.
Skincare stuff.
Gloves.
Mouse in the shape of a Ferrari.

To tell the truth though, I'm a little disappointed as I wanted a helicopter.

Just returned from my Sister's house. She added a little plastic 'Android' figure, a huge bar of chocolate and £50 in cash to my list.

Got:
A mini fridge for uni
Sennheiser HD25-1 ii
Citizen Eco-Drive watch
Clothes
Dvds
A swiss army knife :)
And an awesome time with family. I'm spoilt, but hey my parents are divorced so you kind of get double presents, and two christmases.

I also got this and had more fun (and intrigue and frustration lol) than I expect putting it together!

That's really cool!
I wonder if you could mod it to fly with some micro r/c bits? Bit like the small helicopters etc you can get.
