Thinking of getting a cat, some advice?

I had an incident with the larger one of of my two cats when we had builders round, I was putting them in the bedroom with food and there litter box but Milo the one I was carry got spooked from one of the builders tools going off and tore my t shirt and really deeply cut my back up.

This is the problem with uncut claws - they can dig deep into your flesh, which isn't nice at all. If claws are blunted, the ability of the claw to go deep is reduced.

My 2 hate having their claws cut, so I have to do it when they are half asleep. When fully awake, I have zero chance of cutting even a single claw.

I had a tenant who kept his cat indoors all the time, cat seemed happy enough, afterall they sleep most of the day anyway!

Buy a moggie and let it roam the streets!

Why would anyone want a pet that,
1 sprayed **** in their house.
2 bought home fleas
3 **** in their gardens (and then had the cheek to hide it).

Need i go on.

I Hate cats.

The only thing I could compare the pain to would be fishing hooks buried in the flesh:(. I have another problem now, I bought three leather sofas from Dfs and they cost an awful lot and they're gradually getting clawed to **** from my two Tasmanian devil wannabes and if that doesn't take the biscuit they have started urinating on the sofas FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUU!!! We spoke to the vet and he recommended a Feliway Diffuser which releases a synthetic copy of the feline facial pheromone and should calm them down but this takes a fortnight to kick in.

Burn the sofas, if you are lucky the cats will be asleep inside.

Kill two birds with one stone.

We had a cat when i stayed at my parents. It was out all the time, only used to come home for food or for an afternoon nap. Sometimes it would be gone for 3 or 4 days with no sight of it and then it'd turn up looking thin and just lounge around the house eating for a few days.

I think they may have gave you a teenager by mistake.

...they have started urinating on the sofas

Oh dear.

I hope Feliway works out for you.

I recommended it to a friend of mine and it did seem to work for him, when his cats were urinating on his bed.

My 2 have never urinated outside the litter tray, though Mr Bengal has developed a habit of defacating outside the litter tray, in the bathroom. Its annoying having to first pick up the feaces with toilet paper, pop the mess into the toilet and then mop the area up with disinfectant and floor cleaner.

Dogs arn't much better are they;).

Nope, but i told my wife and child that if they wanted a smelly flea ridden dog in my house (which they did), i would not walk it, feed it, or pay the astronomical medical bills, and they still had one.

And if it was gone tomorrow i would not miss it.

Thanks I have my fingers crossed that the Feliway works. I get the defecating outside the litter tray problem on the rare occasion, what they seem to do a lot is get there cat litter everywhere:o so cleaning every day is mandatory.

I don't think you have much to worry about.

Soon your cats will be ready to crap in your neighbours gardens because they never crap at home.

I have house cats! You obviously don't like cats and thats fair enough and you're entitled to your opinion and have made your point, so why continue with these troll like comments?

Cats are GREAT! :D

Just my advice if you want the cat to live longer - neuter it.

It may sound cruel, but unneutered cats are lovely and then they get to a certain age and all they can think about is sex. Especially males, they will go mental.

If its an indoor only cat, your whole house will be sprayed by it. Even if its female somehow it will still juice about the place.

If its an outdoor cat it will mostly do it outside but then it will go mental and can go miles and miles away from home to find sexual relief.

I had a male outdoor cat that we didnt neuter and it grew up into this beast that would come home, eat, sleep, then go out all night. It died when it was run over by a car, 2 miles away from home. The rest of my cats (I had 6 in total) were all neutered and they behaved much more appropriately.

Also my advice is to let it go outside, let it live! If it dies then you can be upset but rest assured it lived life to the max. Because even if its an indoor only cat, something else can kill it. One of my cats died of bowel cancer.

My oldest cat lived to the age of 19 and she was an outdoor cat!

Please enlighten me.

What is a house cat, not being a cat lover i have never heard of this.
Unless you mean a cat that kills pests, ie rats, then i may have.

But as you say my mind is made up and any type of cat is a pest that craps on your garden then burys it.

Where do you get your info from?

There is no such thing as an indoor cat unless you chain it to the walls.

The idea that a cat, or ANY animal is an indoor animal is just garbage.

I can't believe there are fools who really believe this.
