This Business and Moment...

Yeah they love fighting fires that they create. But at the same time the leadership has become so politically heavy that they've completely lost any alignment to actually deliver outcomes. Just lots of words and theories.

Furthermore they've hired many consultants over the last 3 years to tell them how to run the org. They think it's a fire and forget thing, they don't realise they actually need to do some work. when it goes wrong they bring in more consultants to fix the problem... It's hilarious to see the sycophants praising their every move.

All the experts and good people have left the business. There's hardly anyone left with any skill!

I lead on transformation and innovation so I have to poke the bear a little. Else I'm not doing my job! :D

I'm now officially on gardening leave

Envy :(

I've gotta work my full 3x months, and it's going to suck, everyone is being weird, confrontational and passive-aggressive with me.

I have that feeling you get when you're flying on a plane, and suddenly you get the big drop and the strange feeling of incoming turbulence, followed by the sound the seatbelt signs coming on.... I have 3x months of that.

Put a large day count down on your desk.. let the passive aggressive flow both ways :D

Scared people get confrontational and aggressive. It sounds like there's more skeletons in the closets to come out due to your departure, which often is a good indicator (that you were probably doing all the work to make them look good).

So you're public enemy number one for the folks at the top of ivory towers afraid of the finance troll that is ready to eat them should the tower fall.. :D

Got given a hand written test in a final interview today, and had to ask the interviewers if they could decipher hieroglyphics, god my handwriting sucks.

Super positive though, need out of the hell hole now.

I know that feeling, though add another 3 months for me because when I decided to quit, I wanted the bonus in my bank account before I did it so had 3 more months to go… :(

They really didn’t react well in my team. It was painful!

I've noted a number of places that do bonuses for last year's performance but they then pay 1/2 in the following March and 1/2 in the following November/December.. Given they can fire you under 2 years for any reason and not pay the bonus.. then they wonder why it's not attractive to candidates!

Verbal offer received on this yesterday, contract through this morning, so will be reviewing that tonight and will be giving my boss the good news tomorrow.

This is around getting rid of the 2 year thing, so you have all the protections from the start?
Essentially, probably after probation.

It’s not as if FTE are lower cost than contract all in. It’s more driven by the perceived risk of being left with redundancy costs, given they can fire and only pay upto the date of termination, they remove the cost of the 1month or longer notice period and any length of service costs present in redundancy.
It also means given there’s no need to have evidence other than cite the clause, there’s also little legal risk and less time/cost going through a process of redundancy. There are also no restrictions on the company rehiring or changing role scope in the market should they change their mind.

In short there is no liability on the company, only the employee - who is now a cheaper alternative to contract hire&fire.

The issue is - redundancy is the role, now <24m termination is used for the role and not the person.

How many plumbers would you know that would work as FTE if they knew they’d be terminated? That’s why you have either a cost of a specialist group or of a sole trading company plumber.
No wonder companies find it impossible to find FTE and have to partner with a IT consultancy/partner.

After nearly knocking out this one in a couple of days, I decided to knock out another.

I am not sure if I'll get the chance to make it this week, because arctic trip prep, but when I'm back I'll do it.

Then I'll have itscheaper.in and itsavailable.in :p

Not massive monetization ops really, but fun projects nonetheless and practice. I'll use VPN affiliates to monetize in some way for both.
