They're not a vegetable. The clue is in their name!

I know the difference, but thanks for letting me know. :p

"Beans are seeds. Specifically, they are seeds from a very widespread and diverse family of plants known as Favaceae. Not all facaceae species produce edible pods or seeds, but those that do we commonly known them as Legumes. Some legumes species are vines, such as the runner bean and peas (isum Sativum). The Chickpea, also a bean. Most bean grows on bushes, like peanut, which is a bean, not a nut. There are many others like the Soya bean, Bambara bean, mung bean and lentils and lima beans and cowpeas. Not all Legumes are bushes or vines, some are trees, like the Acacia Sessiliceps. Coffee is not a legume, even though they are seeds.

Is bean a fruit? botanically the pod is the fruit of the plant, you are technically eating fruit, with the seeds inside it but culinarily, we tend to reserve the term fruit for sweet juicy things. When we talk about a fruit that is less juicy and use in savoury dishes, we tend to throw them under vegetables."

I know the difference, thanks.

If you know the difference then whyd you say it and then get all huffy? Thanks.

I'm not getting huffy? Thanks.

See, doing what you did which wasn't huffy! Thanks.

You are free to disagree...but for clarification....

"Beans and peas are excellent sources of plant protein and also provide other nutrients such as iron and zinc. Therefore, they are considered part of the Protein Foods Group. Many people consider beans and peas as vegetarian alternatives for meat. However, they are also considered part of the Vegetable Group because they are excellent sources of dietary fiber and nutrients such as folate and potassium. These nutrients, which are often low in the diets of many Americans, are also found in other vegetables. Because of their high nutrient content, consuming beans and peas is recommended for everyone, including people who also eat meat, poultry, and fish regularly. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Patterns classify beans and peas as a subgroup of the Vegetable Group."

The Bean is a vegetable.

The end. No huff.

Did drop my mic though. :p I mean you can call it what you want, but I don't think i am wrong.

the clues in strawberry and peanut are a little misleading though

Botany is a minefield and would give the pedants a field day......a quick google tells me the blackberry & raspberry isn't a berry either but a Banana, Avocado, Grape, cucumber, watermelon, Aubergine and oranges (subtype of berry called hesperidium) are a berry?!

I am going to bed lol
