This Instant And Moment - 2024!

I wanted to be a vet nurse so when they sent you on one of those "work day experiences" at school when you're a teenager, I obviously chose to go to a vets for the day.

They were needing to operate on a cat and I fainted!! Lol!

It was then that I decided a career as a veterinary nurse was no longer on the cards!
Haha, you get used to the blood. It always looks more than it is.

I spent all my holidays at my uncles farm till I was 12, then we moved nearby and I spent nearly every evening and every weekend working on it.

I’ve done far too much first aid on everything from cats and dogs through to a very ****** of bull that decided to wear a bar wire fence as a knecklace.

I often walk past and say hi to some bloke who seems to spend all day hanging out in his garden.

So I'm walking past and hes more friendly than normal so I give him the time of day.

The guy asks my name multiple times over the course of the conversation.
Asks multiple times if he could kick me in the balls and said I could do it back to him after....
starts taking the pee out of me for saying I'm not a Geordie but I've lived here for more than half my life.
I mention my kids are proper Geordies born here and I'm basically an adopted geordie.

Then about 5minutes later he starts coming out with "I've lived here most my life, my kid was born here so I'm a Geordie by proxy"
clearly he was just repeating what I said being a wind up merchant...

I only mentioned that because he kept asking me different Geordie words/phrases like I shouldn't know what they mean...

I think he had a moment of clarity and realised around here than might get his head kicked in, because then hes begging me to slap him and mentioning hes lost most of his teeth already...

The guy said he was 57 btw.. also he seemed fascinated with people being gay (I'm not) think hes in the closet or something...

probably an alcoholic and on medication I'm guessing.

Never stop and talk to any harmless looking friendly people in your area.

Our new rental doesn't have a freezer. Weirdly they have a big full sized fridge built into the kitchen, but then had a separate chest freezer outside which they're taking.

Ideal scenario would be to buy a cheap freezer off Facebook. However there's very few around and what there are are around €100. It's then making me wonder if i just spend a small fortune and buy a proper American style fridge which we can take into the new house with us.

Have seen a really nice Samsung one for around €1300, but then seen a very similar Hisense one for €600 and really trying to work out whether there's any benefit in spending the extra!

Don't do it man... I tried to preempt my "forever fridge" and ending up having to see it for like half RRP. Too many variables in the "new place".

Well we know 99% of what we want (French style Fridge Freezer). It's going in the utility which means we don't need to worry about it fitting in with the kitchen design etc.

The dream is to just find a cheap fridge freezer, that then becomes the outdoor kitchen fridge. Spain is annoying for this. In the UK you get millions on facebook for £20, but here everyone just keeps stuff till it breaks :(

Got woken up last night by a crazy amount of banging next door, sounded like someone punching or kicking the wall followed by a lot of very loud shouting and what sounded like a female crying. The police have been called to their property once before for him getting violet/aggressive towards his girlfriend, it seemed to quieten down so tried to go back to sleep then the most blood curdling scream I've heard, as it sounded like someone ran up the stairs then more banging and it went very very quiet, eerily so. I didn't want to chance it, and his 4 year old son lives with him so I called the police and explained

They sent someone over quickly because of the history at that address, and previously when that's happened, we've seen the girl escorted out and told to go home, but this time, nothing.

There was no-one else there...the police left after about 30 minutes, no-one else came out so I can only think he was just having some sort of meltdown and losing his marbles, but I'll never forget that scream, that did not sound like a man, it was horrible, it definitely sounded like a terrified woman running away up the stairs from something so no idea what that was but I could hear the police searching the house, so not like she was hiding. Even my girlfriend panicked when we heard the scream and she's normally the one to say it's nothing.

Scary but I'm also a bit worried now that the police think I was exaggerating or worse, lying and wasting their time because their wasn't anyone there, and I was saying on the phone that I'm genuinely concerned for a female next door after the screams and banging.

Just been out to pizza express with club card tokens.

Wow. It's gone down hill so badly and to make it worse.. Price is much worse.

Just 2 of us and it was 60 pounds.
The 660ml peroni was 7 pounds from a bottle. Which I know you can get in Tesco for under 2 pounds. And they probably get it much less.

I used to quite like pizza express, it's very much chain food but better than takeaway.. Not this time, this pizza was worse than a domino's. Barely any cheese and the only flavour was the sauce.

Going out for food is getting less appealing every time.

In the nicest possible way - go somewhere better to enjoy going out for food :)

I quite like the Pizza Express by work but only go if we've got visitors from head office who want to take us. If I'm paying my own money (or in fact choosing where to spend company money) I can do better for the same price at an independent restaurant.

TBF I'm a cheapskate so never used to eat out, but as I do enjoy it I'm making more effort. Part of that is finding places worth spending money on at all. Nothing is cheap anymore :(

We used to get a take away in often on a Friday or Saturday night at work, usually Domino's, but the price is so laughable now we don't bother.

See I don't really enjoy eating out that much. Never really have. Only go to these places as have the Tesco vouchers. Used to be OK though. Better than takeaway, but still a chain. Being worse than a takeaway is not great.

Its not easy eating out as gf is vegan and GF. We even cook at home separately now as its just too difficult to eat together. Which is a bit sad tbh

What I hate is paying a lot for ordinary food at cafes / restaurants, I was in a cafe the other week in Penzance with extended fam , I just couldn't pay £15 for a jacket spud ect so stuck to an oat milk latte and picked up a vegan sausage roll for £1.20 in town.
I think I also calculate how long I have to work for said item so I sure as hell ain't working an hour plus for a spud
