got to have a kick ass fan or water cooled with a freezer atached lol :)

Havent you read my posts? :/ 57c both cores full load @ 3.6ghz using stock cooling at it's lowest fan speed. (2500rpm)

They really arent that bad.

Hey guys , i have a Asus P5ND2 with a vapochill micro high end. i currently just have the basic 630. and was wondering if i would have a problem getting this to hit say 3.4 - 3.6 with out any worrys?

At 3.4 I dont think it would, because games dont use the dual core much but 4ghz would

Ah i see hmm, from looking at benchmarks id gain around 40% speed increase in apps compared to my 754 AMD64 +3400 with the D805 clocked at 3.8ghz. Would I still be able to use my DDR 400mhz ram? Or do DDR2 mobos only support DDR2?

I was looking at a few motherboards and I think some may offer the ability to accept ddr2 and also ddr. I used to have a pcchips board like this for ddr and sdram.

You did say games at first though, multitasking should be much improved for normal apps. Some of the benchmarks showed multitasking with almost no loss, i.e. doing two or three things at once as fast as doing one thing

There are boards with this socket and DDR, but the board in the artical has 8-phase power and I wonder if the cheap boards around £50 and DDR have this. It will make all the difference for overclocking.

If anyone knows a DDR board with 8-phase power, let us know plz. :)

Is a £150 motherboard absolutely neccesary? Is there anything cheaper you could achieve the same results with?

;) Yes i use the asrock 775twins-hdtv mobo it has no voltage controll but you can lock the buses you can use ddr11 or ddr has a pcie x16 my cpu runs at 3.5ghz idle 35.c full load 43.c on stock voltage mobo cost around 40 pounds.
bargin but if you want high ghz then dont get this board but i have heard there might be a bios upgrade so you can tweak the voltage.

how would a P5LD2-VM ASUS mobo cope with the overclocking potential of the 805D?

someone?

Hi mate, could you run a some benchmarks with that mobo such as sisoft sandra, 3dmark etc please? As you say it has no voltage control im worried about that because i wanna clock the crap out of this thing! :)

sandra
d805 running at 3.5 ghz
Dhrystone 15456 mips
whetstone 12663 mflops
amd 3800+
Dhrystone 13002 mips
whetstone 10983 mflops
amd 4400+
Dhrystone 15891 mips
whetstone 13423 mflops
I know these are standerd speed for the amd and they will be faster when they r overclocked but the d805 is 80 pounds and easy to overclock.

so 3.5Ghz is the max you can get your chip due to only percentage overclocks and no voltage adjustments?
Untill they bring out bios update which i have heard will surport volt controll.
then i will take her to 3.8.
