The Southport thread was closed and you were told that if there were any new developments a new thread will be opened in SC. Anybody continuing to discuss the incident in here will be banned from this thread.
Apologise. I didn't see this until after I posted feelings are running hot in my town right now.
I'll comment no more in this thread.

Some pretty shocking scenes across Twitter tonight.

I might be wrong here but the police seem particularly heavy handed when comparing to other protests I’ve seen in recent years?

Also getting bored of the right wing/EDL narrative. Majority of these people will be no gooders(same can be said about the left) but this all kicking off has been a long while coming.

I'm not sure how a bunch of knuckle-dragging far-right racists and xenophobes using the tragic loss of children's lives to stir up division and racial / religious hatred so they could riot, causing disruption, damage and show a total lack of respect for the grieving families has ever been "a long while coming"

It's just a flashpoint and sadly not likely to be the last.

It’s an excuse that they’re using, but it has been a long time coming. There are increasingly unhappy groups with little to lose and who want to make a lot of noise with little in the way of policing in this country to stop it when it does kick off. We are lucky that for the most part people are pretty compliant.

There were a few large knife fights yesterday along the south coast that mostly went unanswered by the police and an increasing amount of social disorder too.

Look, I dont agree with any of it but you can’t deny there arent wider factors that have been brewing for a while now be that economic, media narratives, immigration, whatever. It was coming sooner or later.

I disagree, I believe it would be a "flash point" if the reasons for it were valid and genuine, But they are not.

This is being primarily driven by a relatively small bunch of knuckle-draggers who are travelling to these places specifically to try and cause trouble.

They are using the death of innocent kids to stir up racial and / or religious hatred using entirely false narratives.

As someone mentioned earlier in the thread (or may have even been the southport thread)... The issues lie with the stripping away of so many social services / local community services that so often lead people down these path's where they feel like they have "little to lose"

Tweet isn’t true though the airport thugs were arrested and then released on bail, but as is always the way twitter won’t let the facts get in the way of a few likes/shares etc

It is also funny to see those saying that the lad at the airport ‘got what he deserved’ then basically supporting the EDL thugs throwing bricks at the police. Nothing like a good old double standard!
